Certainly a big advantage the way you can swap the battery super quick, or take just the battery off to charge it inside with the bike left somewhere else.

I love the thinking but having ridden both fazua and Bosch systems many thousands of miles across the quantocks I can't help but feel it looks a little exposed to water and muck ingress. My kinesis rise pro needed extensive repair after about 1500 miles and I'm pretty sure I've just killed a Bosch gen 4 CX performance line after 4k miles. The real step that needs to be made is that of user servicability which is how we keep our other steeds in tip top condition.

Looking great. Good alternative to the ever growing 'integrated battery' only options from some manufacturers. For me, the batteries need to be quickly changeable and detachable. The ability to remove batteries and just bring the battery inside is a must - especially in the cold winter nights. Also makes lifting bike into the boot a wee bit more manageable. Nice one!

Cy, I’m super interested to hear your impressions of riding the Jeht in the Enduro race. Think you’ll do a video on that? I was emailing with Sam last week about your bikes and I’m on the verge of purchasing either a Jeht or RocketMax setup as a trail build. Take care

I recently got back from a week in Morzine riding a Jeht 2 with almost an identical set up to your demo bike. It handled everything that the alps threw at it no problem. A great bike. I love it! Enjoy Ard Rock and good luck!

I'll be riding my Jeht on the Cotic HQ August ride - unless I sort the brakes out on the Soul.
@JamesMkII3 ай бұрын
Hi Cy, have you ever tried/thought about whether the Jeht could be reduced to 120/125 rear travel with a linkage/shock swap in the way that you used to be able to increase travel on a FlareMAX? Not that I mind owning both but it would free up space 😂
@CoticBikesUK3 ай бұрын
@@JamesMkII You could stop down the travel on the Jeht with a 50mm stroke shock and put a 130 fork on it but the seat angle would end up really steep and the bb super low. Flaremax with longer shock the wheel hits the seat tube before bottom out because of the arrangement of seat angle and bb height. You could probably safely go to 140/125 on a jeht, but you would get more difference in ride feel for different trails simply having a different wheelset with light fast tyres and one with tougher, grippier tyres
@JamesMkII3 ай бұрын
@@CoticBikesUK thank you for the detailed reply! My ponderings were that I could possibly go 140/125-ish on my Jeht for majority of my riding and then go back to 140/140 if I go back to the Alps etc but I think you’re right. Either keeping both set up as they are now (Flaremax light & fast, Jeht burly) or just tailoring the wheel/tyre setup on the Jeht to suit the trails is probably the better option.

170mm. I ran 175 for years, but the shorter cranks are kinder to my rubbish knee, and I have always been more of a spinner than a masher. We spec the bikes with 170mm too, but we can get 165 or 175 if you have a preference.

My Reynolds 531 is a much better ride than a 90's Ali full sus mountain bike. Same wheels n tires, different ride. I'd love an 853. When considering weight you need to look at the overall system weight including the rider.

Love it! Thanks for the in depth video. Love my FlareMax, in the interest of lightness and finesse for the majority of a race you can’t beat it. Mines on SID’s with Hunt Trail wheels and tubeless Conti Argotal for racing. But like you, I use Hunts XC race wheels and various lighter tyres for everything else. I’ve got the RockShox Delux out back and run quite a bit of damping. I prefer that feel personally, maybe a hangover from how I ran MX bikes. It’s under biked about 5% of the time, but for the most part it’s perfect. The combination of 853 and its geometry makes it feel way more capable than anything else I’ve ridden. Missed the nerding on tyre pressure tho, and whether you run inserts? I’ve killed two sets of Hunt wheel bearings, mainly the rear outer one. Ceramic bearing(s) next 👍.
@CoticBikesUK4 ай бұрын
At 92kg I run 20psi in the front and 24psi in the rear of the 2.3 tyres I have on there. On WTB 2.5" tyres I run a couple of psi lower than that. No inserts.

Great video - thanks! I’m a on a C4 and a similar weight to you, also using the CC inline shock with similar rebound and compression settings, but according to my pump I need 260psi for 30% sag - seems a lot if you only need 220psi? Wondering if my pump gauge isn’t accurate. Absolutely loving the bike though!
@CoticBikesUK5 ай бұрын
Pump gauge accuracy is a bit all over the place, especially at higher pressures. Key thing is the right sag (which you have) and using same pump so you don't get different readings all the time. To be fair, I didn't check it again after setting it before the race because it felt good.
@CoticBikesUK3 ай бұрын
Little follow up to this: I put an Air IL on the Jeht I'm racing at Ard Rock this coming weekend and needed 235psi for 30% sag. The Jeht has very similar rate curve to FlareMAX, but with more travel has more sag and therefore lower pressure, so I'm not surprised you are running 260 to get your FlareMAX running right.

Im interested in getting a MTB/Gravel crossover next year from you guys and saw you can use the configurator when you build it yourself. Any concerns about a Hardtail frame with suspension but slimmer tires between gravel and MTB and a 1x11 cassette with 10 teeth and in the front with min. 38 teeth for high speeds? Also with a flat bar cause I hate dropbars
