The Snow Motor also can do a zero radius turn and go sideways, great technology especially for the time.

Pierces were the fine car of old money wealthy people. During the gilded age the three fine cars were. Packard, Peerless, and Pierce. Cadillac became the number one selling fine car in the 20s when GMAC came into existence which allowed people to buy cars on " Time ". Half down and the rest in two years.

The Straight-6 engine in the Locomobile Model 48, wasn't an outright "flathead", but a "T-Head," where the valves are mounted on the outside of the cylinders, forming a "T" shape. T-Heads were widely used before WW1 on Luxury automobiles, as well as lasting in Trucks well to the 1930s.

Few people realize that a car with 100HP in 1920 was powerful and it would feel like a lot more power than that today.

You said, priced right. Just how much? $ dollars? Then It can be compared with Ford of the times. And Henry set the right price. I am always interested in the details. A lot of early cars had superior features than Ford. (those that were in the affordable care racket) . It seems like this Hudson ran circles around everything. Fix the starter, no problem. Hudson should have been a top contender? So just how much did it cost?
@FountainheadMuseum4 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment! The 1909 Hudson carried an original price tag of $900 which was a very attractive price for such a high grade vehicle! A Model T Ford of the same year would've run you around $850 for comparison, as Ford was still in the process of streamlining their production to reduce their price tags.

The L80 actually would do MORE than 80 MPH. 80 MPH was the guaranteed top speed of the earlier E80, which had a smaller 288 cubic inch engine.

Lighten up millennial. We drove convertibles without seat belts into the 90s. Just don't crash, and you will be fine.
