Your content is absolutely fantastic chris I’ve attempted to do the TEFL twice now really struggled with it I’ve recently bought loads of how to do it for dummies books read through them but none of the information went into my brain watching you actively explain things in your videos is really helping me to get the information into my brain and it’s there now really look forward to doing some more thank you 🙏

Which course did you take? Each tefl course is different and has different policies.

We have been - present perfect continuous. Different grammar lesson
@TheLanguageHouseTEFLКүн бұрын
Unfortunately, you are incorrect. Been, in the sentence, is the main verb. ‘We have been sick…” We have been traveling/studying/reading - would be the continuous tense. I hope that helps :)

I would never give the answers that they gave. The pics show a snowman, the sun, a bird. To drink looks like a tulip. Anyway, it doesn’t show an action. In our digital era, it is so easy to find very good and clear pictures on the internet. Alcohol-related words are not the best to include in the lesson unless the students are learning English for hospitality. He had Marina repeat the word “winter” without her understanding what she needed to improve and how. And she didn’t get it right. However, he showed the place of articulation of “the” very well. He worked on “I like to ….” and “I don’t like to ….” quite effectively. The substitution drills helped the learners practice and memorize the target language. It is OK to practice speaking with notes. This is natural, real-life and reduces anxiety. Did everyone in the classroom understand the meaning of “favorite”? How was that checked before drilling? Meaning should come before drilling. The gapped dialogue on the whiteboard was very helpful. Was it clarified why it is better to say “to ride bikes”? Learners need to know why.

Does this seem to work better with beginners whose alphabet is similar to the English alphabet? As opposed to the Arabic alphabet, for instance.

'You don't want to use translation, because that's not really good either'. Sure, because you're ashamed of how bad your language learning skills are, and there you are, trying to teach them something? Why waste precious time hoping they will learn something you can teach them in two seconds by translating it? And don't give me that bull about having multilingual classes - English is being taught to monolingual student grouos in 99% of classes.

Like most Americans, you know F all about English grammar and shouldn’t be teaching it until you have learned it yourself.

12:00 In the Second Conditional you verbs are in Past Subjunctive nit Simple Past.
@TheLanguageHouseTEFL14 күн бұрын
The British Council has it as the past simple. I’d write to them and get this cleared up. Speaking of mistakes… 1. *your verbs 2. *not Simple Past It’s very easy to be critical if someone wants to be. In one sentence, you’ve made more errors than in my 10-minute video. Creating value is harder to do. If you check out the description of the video, I mention the typo with the conditional examples :) Anyway, thanks for watching 👍

11:23 Your first sentence is incorrect.

3:53 In your third sentence you have made a gross grammatical error.
@garyfrancis619315 күн бұрын
It takes you one minute and 50 secs to get to your point. As well like most Americans you have already made a grammatical error in speaking. I have been teaching grammar longer than you have been alive.

Omg I feel so dumb right now T.T I wish I watched this video before starting to teach, I am an extremely introverted person and I am struggling with the teaching thing wondering if I can actually be a good teacher :( you described me exactly how I think the students look me sometimes in the first clip, and it´s embarrasing to admit it bc I keep self-sabotaging instead of trying to be more confident. Thank you for the video, there are some points I still need to improve like the tone of the voice, the confidence and the last tip is a gem tbh, I am going to put it on practice, I always study and review my lessons but I think I still need to study even more in order to become like the queen in the topic lmao, thank u for the video!!!

Hi Chris, is this considered A-level for teens & adults? I realize A, B, C levels are used in UK education school systems, much like in Asian countries. I'm just trying to see the American equivalent. Some jobs are asking me if I have A-level experience. All these acronyms are like alphabet soup.
