A fantastic documentary combing experts' comments with dramatic impersonation of Pope and his contemporaries. I particulary enjoy the stunning performance of the two actors who play the role of Alexander Pope and SamuelJohnson. The narrator's voice is so charming.!

I personally consider Kiri Te Kanawa,s rendition of the 4 last songs the most glorious....what heights !!! Words fail me to describe my connection to Richard Strauss...It is too much for me....now, at 74, a lot of things are heightened, as time is passing.....German music... Ah !!! Bruckner, Brahms, Mahler....and RICHARD STRAUSS !!!!

My love of poetry started with Pope.

A very interesting insight into her mentality and outlook. Very much imbued with a kind of quasi Victorian nationalism that was somewhat dated back in the 1980s and looks and sounds very odd to modern ears.
