hey there, can't see where he mentions what expression is used on the graph mapper. Anyone aware of what that would be?

This was a great video, thanks so much. One doubt: Instead of the radii of the circles, what is we want the new domain to define the distance between the circles and the point? How to do that?

Very well explained, thank you! I'm using this to space contours for laser cutting on a plane. I'm changing the gap between the parts dynamically by replacing each element of the list with a sum of itself and a slider value.

Hi, I use Rhino for architecture and often work with topographies. I start by building the existing condition from the survey drawing with a rhino surface and then invariably i will need to reshape the surface to accomodate the design. At the moment i laboriously fiddle with control points to try to manipulate it into the new shape I want. I also cut chunks out of it when i need to level it but its very awkward and clumsy and its really hard to get nice smooth transitions for embankments or road profiles. Does anyone know different workflow that will allow me to sculpt a surface rather than cutting it and pushing around points? I am sure there is something that can achieve the results im looking for more elegantly. Thanks for your feedback!

You should try SubD modelling inside of Rhino, you divide your model into blocks of polygons which stay attached. If you press tab you can toggle between a curved shape and a blocky shape. You can then sculpt the shape to your liking using faces, edges and control points !

Great Video :) One question: How do you have the name of each function showing in little bubbles above them?

Really helpful, thanks, is there a way to have the Y as a separate parameter? I tried copying the domain and changing expression to y instead of x, but that didn't work, just want to have control of the X and Y instead of a complete square

Thanks. It would be helpful to keep "Draw Full Names" on when uploading tutorial videos. There's tons of nodes in Rhino, noobs aren't so acclimated to the abbreviations and it can become frustrating trying to guess which components you are using.

hey idk how I found this tbh I am just trying to make a berm for my project site and you helped me out, before I just used to use cage and draw a cube and then cage edit but this changes everything bro. I just have one problem It is so annoying working in a project that is askew because then my axis is all messed up so when I draw just squares or shift for lines its not actually following my building axis is there a way to change the axis of the project without actually turning my project so its still facing true north?

I am working your way. Do not know why so many tutorials teach people to work with the control boxes. It takes more time to set all the parameters than to draw this simpler way. Thank you

Is there anyway to turn the polyline segments to arcs? I'm digging around and I can find ways to sort of do it but nothing that just instantly changes it to polyline arcs.
@parametricphilosophy1072
@parametricphilosophy1072 Жыл бұрын
Hi Scott, most likely what you want to do is possible, but I'm not sure I fully understand. Do you need to convert each line segment into an arc that is tangent to each adjacent arc? Yes it possible. Or do you need to convert a polyline into a spline curve? It would make the whole like smooth and continuous and would be easier than converting polyline into arcs. But I understand there are some requirements to use arcs and NOT spline curve. (converting curves to other software's often doesn't like spline curves. AutoCAD for example) If you send me some details I can help you out.

Can GH control similar points of multiple curves at one time? In creating a basic four sided awning in 2D, I want to provide the same 'hollow' at all four sides, at the same time. A 'hollow' is a an arc that flows inward of a rectangle...three sided awnings (or sun shades are a great reference for what I mean). It is basically subtracting material from a basic shape. This would speed up my workflow and provide certainty that all 'hollows' are the same at all sides. Thanks for your help and consideration. I have not been able to find a video that comes close to yours.

I have 72 lines 5 degree apart intersecting a rectangle, and I do trim with region. It results in 72 Ci but 70 Co, missing 0 and 35 line, both are verticle. Very strange behavor. It does not matter if my starting line is along x or y, the 2 alone y are always missing from Co.
