Damn. The 845 kit is $219 with the faster charger and 5 mah battery, and the 840 is $99 combo with the slightly slower charger and 2mah battery. 🤔.

People always do these tests with one screw going in at an angel. That completely 100% voids the test. All speeds, power, and ANGLES need to be the exact same. Also, what batteries is he using for them? Their not even OEM..?..

These tests are a joke unless you are using the exact same amperage level in the batteries and screwing into wood that you KNOW has NO knots.

you should have used a comparable battery pack the metbo 4.0/8.0 would have been a better comparison and would have made 200% difference on that drill and it would have smoked the dewalt out in a heart beat

Putting a screw in crooked will skew the test results it’s going in a different structure to the grain.

A lot of switching and to someone not familiar to the whole collection, hard to follow what model are you talking about. Becomes a shell game. Thanks anyway.

I love DeWalt's Tri Lights, Milwaukee just stole the idea on their latest Fuel impact. It seems like Dewalt's and some Milwaukee's get hot quick especially with larger fasteners and smaller batteries.

I like the originality and energy here. A little more prep for what you're doing having adapters waiting, screws/bolts ready or in already. Also maybe labeling or p-touching the number on the tool helpful to make sure your commenting on the right tool. It would also cut down on any editing needed. Good luck!

I just picked up the triple hammer at Lowe’s charger, 2 2ah fuel gauge batteries tether strap for $89. Love it. I have Milwaukee, and Makita brushless also the Dewalt 850. I like the raw high energy version

You get more power using Dewalt batteries. I usually gravitate to the Metabo triple hammer for smaller projects, but usually it's Dewalt or Makita in my preference for bigger tasks mainly because of the availability of larger batteries. Metabos subcompact is awesome too.

You can use the 36v multivolt batteries as 5 or 8 Ah 18v batteries for the Metabo.

Well, at least you are a Chiefs fan. And that 885 is still preferred by many tradesmen... And you can get em for practically nothing now days. I just finished a deck and found myself going for the 885 for about a thousand screws...

All that effort for inaccurate results. The right way to have done this would have been recording them performing alone. Then comparing them side by side on a replay.

The variable speed triggers DeWalt uses now just don't have the same level of control as the brushed impacts 8-10 years ago. they switch between speed levels rather than having a smooth graded output and it makes it difficult to control the tools torque correctly.

They changed the sticker on the 840 at Lowe’s. Guess they are doing that with the non atomic or XR brushless line.

The DCF850 is the smaller atomic one, this is the DCF885 which I own and I think i'm sticking with it. I'm going to try and find a baretool hammer drill DCD805 or DCD998

Milwaukees tech in their batteries help the tool communicate and determine the power output from what i heard. i assume that if you slap on a diff brand with an adapter, the tool has no way of knowing when to stop in case it gets too hot and how much power to use. i could be wrong but im pretty sure this is correct.

I am one of the rare people on earth who can say they own BOTH the 850 and the 845. Generally, if you have one there is no reason for the other. BUT...my 850 collet failed, I did not have time to deal with the warranty or fix it myself, and the 845 had just hit the market. So I just bought it. Then, like magic, the 850 collet started working again. I don't know what the problem was, nor how it was temporary. I cannot explain it. But now I am probably the only guy on earth who owns both of these tools. So here is the thing, in real life: The 845 is more powerful, but not remarkably so. It is not "more powerful" enough where it will make you more productive over the course of a day, and not enough to make you want to upgrade if you already own the 850. BUT... ...the 845 is A LOT smaller and lighter than the 850. If you just look at the size and feel the weight of the two tools, you'd think the 850 had more power, but reality is the opposite. I do not understand the marketing at DeWalt, because the "atomic" line is supposed to trade some power for a smaller size tool...but the new top XR is much smaller and lighter than last year's Atomic release. Like I said, the 845 has a little more power, but not enough where you'd even notice it while working with one or the other. They are almost dead equals. But now that I have the 845, the "Atomic" 850 that I bought last year seems HUGE.
