Hello, When installing Hyper V role, I am getting an error saying Unauthorised access for this Operation, I am logged in to Windows admin center using Local admin creds, as I am unable to domain join this machine. Can you let me know what might be the cause ? Thanks

Can we have only 2 ssds (512gb ×2) per server?
@primelinesolutions7 ай бұрын
Yes, it is possible to have a configuration with only two SSDs per server in an Azure Stack HCI Cluster. According to the guidance provided by Microsoft, for single server configurations, you must use only a single drive type, which can be either Non-volatile Memory Express (NVMe) or Solid-State Drives (SSDs)1. However, it’s important to note that all flat single storage type configurations (for example, all-NVMe or all-SSD) are the only supported storage types for single server setups. learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure-stack/hci/concepts/single-server-clusters For a standard multi-node Azure Stack HCI cluster, there are various options to maximize performance or balance performance and capacity, including configurations that use all SSDs2. If all your drives are the same model, there is no cache, but you can mix higher-endurance and lower-endurance SSD models and configure the former to cache writes for the latter. It’s always recommended to consult with a Microsoft Azure expert to ensure that your configuration meets all requirements and best practices for Azure Stack HCI. learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure-stack/hci/concepts/choose-drives

Exporting and file copying to another host and then importing is not a very efficient migration strategy, especially for large VMs. What tools are available to snapshot and replicate VMs from existing Hyper-V to a new AS HCI cluster, shutdown source VM, copy changes since snapshot and start new VM with downtime in minutes rather than potentially hours. (Something similar to what VMware converter would do) If Microsoft is interested in enabling migration to AS HCI for their customers, they should be providing a tool capable of this.

Unfortunately, Azure Migrate does not offer the desired functionality. A paid tool is available from Zerto -> www.zerto.com/solutions/use-cases/migrations Among other things, this can also be used to migrate VMware VMs to Hyper-V. When migrating from Hyper-V/VMware to Azure Stack HCI, there is only a few minutes of downtime.
