Yes, that startup noise is normal on this T24A-FTS engine. That initial sound is the direct injectors at startup. That high pressure fuel pump is noisy. After the engine starts up, you hear it switch back over to the port injectors, then it will alternate between port and direct when you get that clattery noise of the high pressure fuel pump. The engine is very noisy. It's clattery. It really surprises me how much nose that things makes. The older tacomas had a "diesel mode" that was really noisy. This seems to be the fix for that port/direct system to keep the direct injectors clean, but it sounds like a damn sewing machine. With respect to your shifting quirks, I noticed you were probably in "normal" mode vs eco or sport. Try seeing what happens when you do those hills in eco or sport mode. That changes a lot of dynamics about how the engine shifts and fuels itself. I will say that rear seat chime is totally apeshit. I had it going crazy with nobody in the seat. It's a seriously dangerous when that thing starts going crazy randomly while you're driving. Ended up taking a programming tool and disabling all the seatbelt chimes so it never happens again. As for the "full size spare" that's total BS for Toyota to say that. It's not a full size spare. It's insanity to me that they ship these off roads with these trash spares. And this will drive you nuts if you didn't notice it, but your tailgate isn't centered, assuming that silver truck is the one you bought. Look at the gap on the left side vs the right side. Substantially larger gap on the left, which is the side you said rattles. Your box might be off center, or off kilter slightly. It can be unbolted and moved slightly, but like you say, should a guy have to spend $50k on a truck and fix it correctly? The real issue is the price they want for these trucks, you have the right to expect perfection. It should be damn near perfect at this price. I mean, you get cloth floor mats on an OR trim? Manual seat? It feels like the truck that was built to maximize profit sharing bonuses at the expense of the buyer.

@@JulietHotelFoxtrot it might be normal for. 24 Tacoma, but It’s definitely not normal for their competitors in this class or any other. Having owned diesel I’ve dealt with loudness but this is bit much out of gas burner. The shift point thing I need to dig into if these have a variable geometry turbo or not. The turbo pattern just feels off. It’s too erratic and just seems to have a lack of consistency. I’m in Colorado with it now and there’s times you lean into the throttle and you just don’t get anymore boost until it downshifts. It doesn’t help that I’m coming from a 16 3.5 eco boost. There’s a few things I even forgot to mention, like the camera beeping ever time you hit a hard bump or small pot hole. Driving down these county roads up here and have an “off road” package beeping at me because I’m off road just has me asking “why?” Lol. Yeah I actually hadn’t noticed that yet. That’s my thoughts exactly shouldn’t need to immediately fix a brand new $50k truck. I think Trd John had posted he is had paint swirls from the factory and took it in for paint correction.

@@Ttallonn I too had paint swirls like mad in the underground color. The paint is super thin, super soft, and so easily damaged. There's also overspray on the finish probably from the bed liner install or something. I had the dealer do paint correction as well, but they did such a lousy job I just ended up stripping everything, going through a full detail and minor paint correction myself with a wash, clay bar, machine polish and then ceramic sealant. All they did was wax it or use a paint sealant to mask the swirls and holograms on the finish. The paint is atrociously thin on these so you can't cut too much and still have a clear coat left on it. I would guess if you took an inspection light to yours, you'd see assloads of swirls. It's just easier to hide in the silver because that's a better color IMO and it hides paint defects better than the gray. If the dealer ran it through a crappy tunnel car wash, your paint is total hosed up. Toyota does about the softest, thinnest paint of any vendor IMO. Hondas are pretty soft, but this Toyota has the durability of butter.

Funny there’s minimal clicking, mostly a few clicks on vuhdo and the majority is tied to the razor naga.

There's a moment after the boss fight that it tells you to go to dalraan and speak with phineas in the mages quarters, but he's not showing up, any idea on this?
