Our new housing market is utterly broken and not just on pricing. Near me, all new estates for the past 20 years are just street after street of 2 story, (mostly) 4 bedroom rabbit hutches with tiny rooms. For the past 40 years I have frequently heard politicians of all persuasions wittering away mindlessly about the ageing population but never mentioning any solutions. I am 60 years old and want my final house to be a bungalow, detached, easily heated and near public transport. A 4 bed, 2 story house buried away in a sprawling housing estate miles from shops, GP's etc is of absolutely no interest to me.

the money saved on new technology increases the amount of devices you own. It is the utility companies that are benefiting from these savings, the more devices you own the more energy used. I don't believe these savings equate to an increase on house prices.
