Nice video! You’re not ocd, dude. If you were you’d have the bnc cover as well as the 3d covers, lol. Just kidding. That’s my favorite radio. Have fun. 73 de K0WHW Bill

Thanks for the video 👍👍 Great Antenna, I've had some great success with it doing SOTA/POTA. I got F4WBN in France with 20 Watts on a SOTA summit using that antenna! 73

Got the cover and caps from an Etsy seller. They are 3D printed. Search Etsy for TX-500.

Would you be comfortable using this antenna as a permanent base antenna setup.

@@K5AMJ that’s good to hear, as a semi permanent setup how or would you ground this antenna for lightning protection or would a counterpoise be enough im new to this still learning.

Absolutely! Everything I've ever purchase from Chameleon has been built incredibly well! I left my Chameleon Tactical Dipole Lite strung up for over a year with no issues whatsoever.

@@wesley20991 Hey me too! I would definitely run it to a ground rod if leaving up long term. That said, I never did with my TD Lite. I just disconnected it from all radios when I wasn't actively using it. I have yet to get a ground system in place for my shack.

No, this would not be suitable for a base station. This has a QRP transformer and will not handle the power of a typical base station. As far as lightning, you need to run your coax through a lightning suppressor as close to your house as possible. This will need to be grounded to a ground rod to work. This has the added effect of reducing noise on your antenna as well.

For a permanent install, the full size EMCOMM II or III would handle more power. They work particularly well in an inverted V configuration. Place the choke end of you coax at the radio and not at the antenna feed point. This will allow the coax shield to work as a counterpoise and make the antenna a little more efficient. You’ll need a tuner with any of these antennas.

Thanks. The description of that mount on the Buddipole web site is very confusing. After watching your video I now know I can just mount the VersaHub on it. MY Buddistick Pro Deluxe should be here tomorrow. And next month we should be moving into a condo in NC. The plan is to use this mount to mount the Buddistick on a window sill.

Glad I could help. I too was confused and ended up not ordering everything in the first order and had to wait which was frustrating. It really is a versatile system, but Buddipole should include the hook to attach weight to the bottom of the versahub. Apparently it's only included if you get the whole kit instead of just ordering the versahub.

I have a this bag too. I use it with the ic705 in an ammo can. My whole station is in that bag. I'm very happy with it. 73

I have this pack and it works great with the FT-818ND. I did use the bag for the TX500 but now using a Nintendo Switch case for the TX500. This is hardened with a decent sized lower section for anyhting else you need. This is a good bag though. I used the top pocket to carry the TX 500 but with a small padded sleeve to protect from the zip scratches.

Nice! I've got the PA-500 amp which is a companion to that radio, but just as I thought about getting the TX-500 they got banned. D'oh! They do look great for handling the rigors of portable life though.

It's funny I find myself babying the crap out of it and I am not sure if it's a. I have OCD and would have anyway, I mean I leave the plastic clings on all my radio screens or b. I know I won't get another should something happen to this one.
