So that small pipe is the exhaust I presume? Are these pellet heaters able to be set up anywhere in a house or just in areas like basements, garages, etc? Considering one for a family room

Yup, that's the exhaust. Pellet heaters can be installed like a normal wood heater or they can also be installed through the wall behind them, called direct venting. Install a pellet heater anywhere a wood heater could be installed, so, yes, lounge room or family room is perfectly fine.

Nice! I get sic dep alarma 7 fail just before pellets should drop. Cleaned pressure switch and there was dust in thermostat holder and where it's clamped into main box ( copper wire) seems to be a tad of play on it when cold. Normally starts 4th or 5th attempt. Any ideas?

@@casualgamers6020 I assume this is happening when starting the pellet heater and there is no fire yet? If so then yes clean the vacuum tube like you did. There can be ash inside the vacuum switch. That can be cleaned by opening up, just be careful and put it back together the way opened. Next, what's the door gasket like? If it's worn too much that can cause this alarm. Finally, how long ago since you cleaned inside the pellets heater and cleaned the flue? Meaning a deep clean. I'd make sure all ash inside ports and flue cleaned out.

@@casualgamers6020 just be careful blowing into a vacuum switch. Really shouldn't do that but mainly because of air is too strong it'll damage the switch (unlikely you did this but yeah just be careful). I'd be cleaning the flue and inside the heater. Yes, definitely. They are built so they will shut down if there's any problem but there's no issue running a pellet heater while not at home. I personally wouldn't run it for a long time, like if I was going away for the day and there's no need to do this. Pellet heaters will reheat a space quickly, much faster than a wood heater, so if I go away for the day I switch it off and then switch it back on an hour or so before I come home. This saves pellets and money but I still come home to a warm house.

@tassiepelletheaterowners4472
@tassiepelletheaterowners4472 Ай бұрын
@@RalphDesain I personally wouldn't. Will it work? Yes but a few problems. First, the heat will be trapped in the basement. Yes, you can use vents and it will naturally rise up out of the doorway to the house but pellet heaters are space heaters, so most of the warmth will be in the basement. Second, is the basement insulated? If the walls aren't insulated then the cold walls will suck up a lot of heat. If the walls are insulated, then you won't have this problem but will still have the same problem that most of the heat will be trapped in the basement. Having said that there are plenty of people who install pellet heaters in their basement to heat the house above. However, I just don't think it is a good idea.

Button is pressed at about 0:02 seconds into the video. Pellets automatically feeding into the burn pot and then they catch fire. At the very start the wattage drawn is around 2 watts then a few seconds later it jumps to about 300 watts. Ignitor is starting to warm up and pellets are being slowly fed into burn pot. Fire is starting around the five minute mark but it isn't fully established and burning until the 7:33 mark. That's why the watts being drawn drops from around 300 watts down to 40 - 70 watts because the ignitor switches off.

Cost varies greatly depending on which country you live in. Best to google prices. Most people will burn a bag a day in the middle of winter. Again, this depends on where you live and how cold your winters are. We burn about 60 to 100 bags a year. If you live somewhere that allows a lot you may burn 2 to 4 tonne a year. Depends on your winters, how big your house is, how warm you like it, do you have other heading etc. Yes, there is a chimney or flue.

Pellet prices depend a lot on where you live. In the USA people pay anywhere from $5 USD to $8 USD a bag. In Australia we pay anywhere from $8.50 to $13.45 AUD a bag. Most people will go through about 60 to 100 bags a year in Tasmania, Australia where I live a year. In the USA obviously cold areas people are burning up to 6 ton a year. They run their heaters non-stop. Completely agree on the maintenance. With a wood heater you can let them run non-stop for months. At the very least I'd be stopping a pellet heater burning non-stop once a week to clean out the ash. Plenty of people on the USA do this. Run their heater 24/7 and shut it down for an hour or so a week to clean it out. However, with a wood heater you are spending that time splitting, stacking, moving and drying firewood. Everyone is different and I used to enjoy cutting trees down, chainsawing it into rounds etc but not anymore. It became a chore and I hate it :-) However, I totally understand some people love doing that and it's great we can pick a heater that we like and did our lifestyles. Thanks for the comment. Much appreciated.

I’ve often thought of doing something like this too, but I’m not moving it from where I have it installed haha. I do a daily cleaning on it and a deep cleaning after every one ton of pellets burned. We burn 4 tons a year through our pellet stove. It saves us thousands on propane. Looks like you have a ComfortBilt. That’s what we have. How long have you had it? Yes moving is a pain. The other option is to simply put the leaf blower in at the T pipe. This way you don't have to move the pellet heater. Set it to blow and it'll suck ash out of the pellet heater and blow it out the flue. If burning 4 tons then yes you obviously must be doing a few good deep cleans. And yes I see many people in the US switching to pellets due to cost of LPG. The heater is a Zeigler and Brown which is the same as the Comfortbilt in the USA. They are essentially the same but are no longer sold here in Australia. I think this one was about 8 years old and still worked fine. Brand doesn't really matter as long as you clean the heaters properly. Yours should be fine and I see a lot of people int he US are happy with comforbilt.

I have noticed that the latest batch of Eco Pellets Tas pellets up here in Victoria have been burning leaving this same black ash behind, I have discovered that they appear to have changed their raw material ingredients after comparing with a bag from 2021, a very clear colour difference and the burn on the 2021 pellets was super clean!. I got around the problem by increasing the air rate through the burn pot, I am not sure what they have changed in the ingredients but it's not good, it's worth calling them and asking I recon because the issue has been happening on various clients heaters I serviced over winter. High soot production usually indicates that a crappy type of wood has been included in the mix like pine or the moisture content of the pellets is to high, also, this is the reason that I hate these open face paddle type fan wheels, they are inefficient, their only pro is that they don't get a build up of soot on them, closed face barrel fans do however usually once it builds up to a certain point it fly's off. I am currently messing around with fan's on my test heaters, closed face fan's are proving to improve the burn and reducing soot/ash content.

Yeah, I've seen people talk about issues with EcoPellets and quality. It definitely did happen. However, never had the issue myself and I've burnt a lot of their stuff. Worst I get is clinker build up which is no drama for me but for some of it is. Regarding parts and heaters, for me the most important is can you get parts. Biggest issue I see right now is retailers leave the pellet heater market, like Bunnings and basically BBQs Galore plus all the other retailers who originally sold then dropped heaters over the years because they were no longer being imported etc. People need retailers who will be around long term, can support them and help them troubleshoot etc. That plus Pellet prices are far too high on the mainland and while EcoPellets quality does vary without them I wonder what price nsfp Pellets would be selling at.

Hi, by blower if you mean room exhaust fan that blows got air into the room, then that shouldn't be possible. The smoke exhaust is obviously completely separate from the room fan. I'm guessing maybe something, first out whatever, has gotten into the room fan and that's why you are getting smoke. The only other way there could be smoke is of there was a hole or something. I wonder if the door gasket needs to be replaced. However, a bad door gasket would trigger a a vacuum day switch and the heater would shut down. Is the smoke only visible during startup? Do you have an outside air kit? Sometimes during startup there is a very tiny bit of smoke that comes out of the pellet heater but it's minimal and definitely wouldn't be heaps of smoke billowing out.

The comfortbilt stoves are a rebadged made in China model, just like this heater. Yes, they would be identical or very similar. This is actually a zeigler and brown or at least that's what they call it.

@@tassiepelletheaterowners4472 thanks and mine is the comfort built HP 21. All the reviews I've done on it says it's not supposed to get hot on the top and on the sides just in the front the glass area. But mine gets so hot on the top and the sides that it will literally burn you third degree burns. I just recently purchased it installed it yesterday in about 2 hours later it was that hot. There's no overheating alarm on it but I don't hear the blower motor blowing could that be the problem

@@davidcompton9528 yup something is wrong. Once fire is going the room fan will switch on to blow hot air out of the heater into the room. You should be able to tell what fan is and isn't running. It's definitely not working as intended.

@tassiepelletheaterowners4472

The fan voltage should change when you switch modes. Can you hear the exhaust fan going faster or slower when you change speed setting? The voltage should be higher, so the fan spins faster and more pellets are fed into the burn pot giving you a bigger fire or the opposite going slower and less pellets for smaller fire. What type of pellet heater do you have?

@@tassiepelletheaterowners4472 I have a enviro m55c-fs. Yes the fan increases as I up the heat level. Flame does get bigger but not a lot and very little between 4 and 5. Was told by someone to close the damper in the back 1 " , so I did, help , but very little. Any help is appreciated

@@ezellccful pulling the damper out should provide more air, which would be needed for a lazy flame. I couldn't find the M50 model but found m55. Does your model have the "trim combustion air" button? This will allow you to increase fan voltage or decrease and may be worth looking at. Wish I could help more but I assume the heater is new. The only things I can think of are voltage on fan is too low. There could be something wrong with the fan. If the heater isn't new has it been deep cleaned etc? I also assume when you change the heat setting the amount of pellets being fed into burn pot increases and decreases accordingly?

Is there any Australian standard accreditations, for wood pellet heaters ?
@tassiepelletheaterowners4472
@tassiepelletheaterowners4472 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, yes I believe it's AS/NZS 4012. However, I think it is being updated and pellet heaters are exempt. They used to be exempt in an old version of the standard then it was updated and no longer exempt. This is being reviewed and the updated version should exempt then again because they burn so clean.

@@tassiepelletheaterowners4472 Hi, thanks for your feed back. From my research , yes it seems they are exempt, except for the AS/NZS 2918, which is some kind of installation standard. @@MaxStArlyn Hey, looks like that standard you referred to is for installation requirements. The standard I was referring to above (god it's confusing) was regarding emissions etc. That standard is currently being reviewed and updated because they left out pellet heaters being exempt from emission standards (it may already be updated, I haven't checked in a while). I can't comment on installation requirements, just that pellet heaters don't need to meet emission standards like wood heaters because pellet heaters already burn much cleaner. Just curious. What exemption or what are you doing that has you looking at exemptions etc? There should be no problem getting a pellet heater installed. I'm just wondering what are you looking at doing etc?

Just out of curiosity what would cause his pellet stove to run good for about 12 hours and then all the sudden flood out
@tassiepelletheaterowners4472
@tassiepelletheaterowners4472 2 жыл бұрын
Not exactly sure what you mean by flood out. If it stops feeding pellets into the burn pot and as a result the fire dies out, then sounds like a temp sensor is faulty. It can't detect a fire so switches off. However, there could be many reasons. What's happening exactly and what do you mean flood out?
