I am GB team, I wish we had more self defense scenarios during the classes. Years ago we had some but it seems we have less and less now. May be a decision from HQ to focus more on bjj techniques.

Attacking standard Judo throws from the BJJ posture is a big challenge. Looking forward to seeing how BJJ guys who are serious about stand up begin to solve that problem in the coming decade.

What keeps you from losing balance and having your opponent move from underneath you as you do this gator roll guard pass. I have followed your instruction to apply this pass in sparring, but a few times I have lost my balance, with my opponents almost taking my back. I wonder if I am not sufficiently stabilizing the position?

If I had to guess you’re not pulling the lapel hard enough and maintaining solid connection thru the rotation. That lapel grip should anchor you to their shoulder as you turn over. Think about it in reverse if you’re transitioning from side control to north south you have to keep your chest heavy to prevent an escape. This move requires you to lift your body off so you need to pull the opponent into you.

Can you bait someone to try the arm bar, and use that to escape their mount?
@Skibidibugs8 ай бұрын
Usually armbars happen fast in sparring and once they get into the leg over face step.you toast
@whyareusobad35287 ай бұрын
That’s basically impossible the only way you could get out of it doing what your saying is to roll onto the shoulder of the arm they are trying to grab 1 of 2 things will happen They will miss drop or lose control of the arm and you could roll probably putting you in back mount Or 2 you roll and pull your arm they don’t lose control of it and it breaks your arm because your pulling away from where they are holding basically submitting yourself and REALLY screwing yourself up In training / fighting it’s a good way to get hurt when you wouldn’t have otherwise In a street fight it’s unlikely someone will try an armbar but if they do and this happens your probably going to die
