While I appreciate your balanced analysis, I dont like they way you sound when you talk about "educating" Indians about garbage disposal. While it is absoutely correct to emphasize the importance of preserving nature, Westerners like you and me (I grew up in Europe) should not feel like we have the moral high ground. Our western lifestyle has left by far the biggest ecological footprint. Your personal footprint just by flying to India is probably more devastating than the entire life balance of a local. So lets tread lightly and not think of ourselves as superior.

14:28 This really is very sad. I think education does play a part, you're taught in school to not litter, to be considerate and to take care of the environment. But even otherwise, some parents are very careless and reckless and children learn from that and the cycle goes on. In general I feel like we have an attitude of 'this isn't my home, so who cares'. This extends to when such people travel, it just isn't engrained in them that it's a bad thing to litter. Indian people lack civic sense. I think the government needs to do better, if this improves then things just get easier for everyone in the country and the govt. It's a patriarchal society, boys and men are put on a pedestal while women are treated as second class citizens. Poor upbringing again plays a major part. They see women as objects to own which is very disheartening. In lower strata of the society(economically), life is very hard. Men turn towards alcohol and domestic violence is very common. The child learns from how the father treats the mother and how men in general treat women. Another very sad part is internalised misogyny, again the degree varies depending on many factors but when girls are treated poorly from their birth, when they are sidelined and told that they're worthless if not for their men then they believe it, it's the gospel and the cycle continues. Education is the only way to eradicate many such things.

I don't agree, cover yourself for the purpose of disrespecting culture? Indian culture is actually liberal. You are covering yourself because the men around you are of dirty minds and indisciplined.

Now I’m looking into my next destination the Universe brought me back to you, so here I am again and subscribed to follow you and get inspired for my next journeys! @@yanaslight Thailand was amazing! I loved the vibe regardless of where I was, I loved every place I visited and it’s just will always have a special place in my heart. I would totally recommend going, if not this time, whenever the time will be right for you in the future ✨ I know, making videos and content isn’t easy as many think… I love what you are creating but please take care! I know people like me will still be around whenever you get the chance, time and energy to upload💜 I am definitely continuing traveling, I learned the hard way that not traveling is not for me, so never again! I am also torn between going back to Asia next or Latin America… so we shall see what comes my way this time around!

The arrival form is the same Italy. Everywhere we went, no matter if a small village or Milan, AirBnb or hotel - we had to fill in a form and leave a copy of our passports.

Tipping is an interesting issue. If the locals do not tip then really tourists should not. It would go against local culture to tip. That would change the economics of the region. Tourism already changes cultures and most often in negative ways.

Well it's a tragedy for claiming to be the 'Spiritual Capital' of the World. So much basic stuff to rectify on the outside before offering to teach others what's inside. I don't know it's the population density or what why we Indians can't get few basic things straight? Although I know places, in India itself where it's a non-issue. Only thing I can think of is these things weren't ingrained in us during our childhood by our parents, eventhough almost everyone had learned them at school. Being such a diverse country (both geographically & culturally) and probably, the true spiritual capital of the world, the cradle & library of spirituality, it's a shame we are still grappling with such fundamental inadequacies, almost a century after independence from colonialism 🥺🥹 P.S. Things ARE moving in the RIGHT direction...but we ought to TRULY expedite things, by a LOT!

The elaborate airbnb documentation is due to the over zealousness of the local cops. As a consequence even the airbnb operator HAS TO keep an "office copy" to prove that they aren't running a brothel.

very apt and loyal point of view by you yana , of my country and its people ! liked it ! as for me i live in the northern rural part of india (haryana) about 60km away from delhi ! being an educated man , i could have chosen the city life and city cultur to blend in for my life , but i chose the calm approach of living and spending my life in indian villages ! i have spent my last 30 yrs in educating the common folks out here about the same things you have mentioned which have to be looked after in india ! --- but aah ! you missed one point here , and thats ---- the "STARING" part --- as an indian myself that too living in village, i know my fellow countrymen , being a very curious lot , have a habit of staring people , that too people like you from the western countries ! so my point is not to get offended by this ! its in our DNA , we cant help it --- we just have to stare, though i know people visiting india may find it offensive, but it is also a part of daily life here ! so it should be taken lightly ! anyways liked your true analysis about my country and now i will try to help my people here more by figuring out what all i have missed amd by learning from your beautiful vlog ! thanks and regards --- bobby !

Discrimination, travel issue, Food problems, healthcare, rude and good behaviour, theft, mugging, crimes, entertainment, sex/fun offers, overcharging vs fair pricing vs opportunity cost... These are part and parcel of all the countries and cities. I feel it is more problematic in the west. Only thing good about west is cleanliness, after a while it starts to feel annoying too. Cost wise broad day light robbery goes on in the west. Everything is damn expensive. I salute you for your courage to travel alone. I myself never had guts to travel alone even being a guy.

Liked video very much and felt was a very honest feedback on India. as far as honking I remember when had I collected my driving licence a few decades one of the rule I was made to read was that one has to Honk when one over takes. it was kind of a traffic a etiquette to be followed. so honking is a way to communicating with others. personally when someone swishes past me while driving without a small honk just before he overtakes, i would be a bit startled. India has a huge population, and is a bit chaotic, traffic and people can come from any direction, so a bit of honking is kind of a necessity.yes there are people who do lot more than required. As far as toilet paper vs health faucet, 100% of Indians will opt for Health faucet As far as kids , from time immemorial, kids have been , be it human or animal, have always been happy and playful and will be so until life thrives on earth. They are least bothered about creature comforts. @MrMaddss1233 ай бұрын
Mindset while traveling to different parts of India has to be different, one needs to know the cultural aspects and way of life... philosophy of life in india to understand how people live ..their motives etc. 2 cribs of yours about throwing muck outside and not telling I don't know... when you don't know are valid. Your crib of handwashing of clothes is silly ... materialistic way especially if you have lived in UAE...eastern way of living is philosophical and our focus is on karna and not too much on what we don't have... crime and other problems are worldwide, trusting people and being nice and friendly are the qualities you can pick up and take home! I also sense Buddhism is seen by the west as some exotic mumbo jumbo...most of the westerners fall for it without understanding! India lives in different levels. ...one needs a life time to understand it
