And besides the Jews, it is the Muslims who have understood this lesson. Muslims follow a prophet like the Branhamists. But, prophets who are already dead. That is Satanism. I'm afraid you are the false prophet. Denying who Christ is...astonishing, and here's what the bible says about that: Matthew 10 v 32 - 33 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven. Matthew 16 vs 15-17 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”Jesus said to him, “Simon, son of Jonah, you are happy because you did not learn this from man. My Father in heaven has shown you this.

I owe thanks that the Free Presbyterian Psalm singing (01:30) has been published here - I searched and searched, found wonderful Zulu hymns, etc, but none of the wonderful voices from Ingwengya. Such a well hidden gem - took me 16 years to find it serendipitously while researching Presbyterians in Mizoram etc NE India! Perhaps Free Presbyterians don't believe in serendipity? I see Rev J Talloch, now in Stornoway, Scotland, and Miss Norma MacLean, headmistress but, sadly, I no longer recognise the African ministers. Wonderful to see the assembly at Ingwengya - 16 years after the fact - these school children will be adults and members of Zimbabwe society now - how time flies!

Faith is faith. Immovable. Unshakable. But culture is culture. Non-musical wailing has nothing to do with the Bible. Read Psalm 150. One must make sure exactly what one is fighting for. Tradition? Or The Word of God.

Protestants are not keen on blind faith, they like to base faith on the Bible. I would love you to expand your cryptic comments on Psalm 150.
@missasinenomine4 жыл бұрын
@@middletome Cryptic? Psalm 150 talks about musical instruments. 8 in fact. Now, having said that, I'm NOT saying that we should necessarily worship as the ancient Jews did. (with dancing etc). I love unaccompanied singing. Dare I say "a cappella"? Or would that be to Roman Catholic for you? But an organ is fine too. Unaccompanied singing must be good however. Harmonised. Together. Not a wail & a straggle like a flock of sheep or goats. A precentor is unnecessary. The wail & the precentor is pure tradition. Purely culture. Which is fine. But musical harmonic singing is beautiful as well. I lived in Scotland for 10 years. One deacon once told me that to sing the parts was "showing off". This is highland attitude to singing, which is not merited. The western isles brand of worship is not for everyone. And that gaelic is the language of heaven is not just a joke. I seriously think that many believe it! "Have ye the gallic?"

I was raised in a church going home and I went to discos and had a tv. So did most of my RC and Protestant neighbours. In the 90s the local Reformed Presbyterian minister had a tv and celebrated xmas in private. Even the Free Presbyterian church of Ulster has carol services now. But the Free Presbyterian church of Scotland never changes. They are lovely people but I think the rules of girls not wearing trousers or Jean's are out of date. Christ wore what would now be considered female clothes. Also these girls wear jewelry which some denominations e.g 7th day Adventists wouldn't

the Roman Catholic Church is all about "exaltation" above the truth ... if only more Roman Catholics would genuinely explore 'Free Church' orthodoxy - taking care which 'Free Church' was chosen - they would find a new freedom which doesn't fail. One is free to "Search the Scriptures" any day of the week and thus check that the minister was preaching orthodoxy ... . Romanism can also be called "the lazy man's religion" ... .

The Roman Church might have an impressive history in terms of who laid hands on whom, and in terms of really old church buildings, but orthodox Protestantism has maintained the Faith of the Apostles; the pure and unadulterated Christian Faith.
@robertroberts26665 жыл бұрын
If by Protestantism you mean Presbyterianism then you are not that far removed from the Mother of harlots. You have a Protestant Pope, are paedo-baptists and have the same persecuting spirit as the Church you so criticise. For example, take the primitive Christianity of the St Kildans who kept the Commandments of God and the faith of Jesus until a hypocritical devil in the form of a Church of Scotland Minister, the Rev Neil McKensie, arrived in the 19th century and helped to destroy a True Christian community that had existed for 1500 years. Just who do these people think they are?

The comment from Conor is the old lie that Romanism has always peddled while it built its golden thrones and painted its palace roofs while at the same time defrauding the poor masses of Europe and keeping them from being able to read their Bibles so that they could see the untruths that they were being told.

There was a booklet written at the time which explained not only the theological reasons for the case, but also indicated the lengthy FP witness against anyone attending a mass. Surely it would be a case of double standards to air brush the fact when it involved one of their own...
@middletome12 жыл бұрын
I think it could be argued with some merit that this church represents the historic position of the church of Scotland at the reformation. Now I appreciate that many in modern Scotland might want to brush this into the pages of history, thankfully it seems that sentiment is not universal.
@middletome2 жыл бұрын
@@colz4r454 I wasn’t expecting universal agreement.. but I would agree the Disruption saw the Free Church of Scotland acting loyally towards the traditional reformation Calvinist position that was always there in the Church of Scotland. I would argue that in 1893 the adherence of that church to the confession was altered and the church that was loyal to those standards was the FP Church.. whereas that group which remained to fight a successful law case in 1900 knew that they should have taken that action with us a few years earlier.

The sooner this church is consigned to the pages of history the better for Scotland.
