Have you ever tried thermoplasty to hold your peace in place while you use your basil pusher. The thermoplasty can be softened and it hardens very quickly and it’s reusable.

Wow thats amazing work just a quick question can we use water to smooth it out before firing?
@metalclay-silberladen-at2 күн бұрын
Yes, it is possible to slightly moisten the piece and smooth it out with your finger. Once it has dried again, we recommend sanding the area with fine sandpaper for a smooth finish.

What type of binder do they use? I am allergic to some chemical compounds.
@metalclay-silberladen-at2 күн бұрын
Goldie Bronze typically uses an organic, non-toxic binder made from plant-based cellulose or similar materials. These binders burn off completely during the firing process, leaving only the metal behind. However, the exact composition of the binder may vary depending on the manufacturer. If you have allergies to certain chemical compounds, it’s best to contact the manufacturer directly to confirm the specific binder used in their formula. This will help ensure it’s safe for you to work with.

I loved making this , made it for my husband but a few days later the core of the ring became loose :( did I over sand the edges ?
@metalclay-silberladen-at2 күн бұрын
Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately, it’s possible that you left too much of a gap with the Post-its or that the ring band was placed too loosely. Something might have also gone wrong during the firing process. There could be many reasons for this. Depending on the condition of the ring, you could try soldering the pieces together. Best wishes and all the best!

Thank you for the wonderful tutorial! When you said to not let it get too hot, is there further guidance for that? For example, should you be holding the torch a specific distance away or limit the time? Thanks again!

Youu scratch the ring on the sandpaper and after that you collect the sand. The sand that you collect can be worked again ?
@metalclay-silberladen-at13 күн бұрын
Yes, the sanding dust or the scraped-off Metal Clay particles can, for example, be mixed with (distilled) water to create a paste, which can then be used to join or repair parts.

Thank you so much for your reply. I wanna try it but I'm afraid because i don't have any experience. Is there any other material similar to this to experiment before i buy silver clay?
@metalclay-silberladen-at10 күн бұрын
@ You can try Goldie Clays, which come in forms like iron, copper, bronze, brass, etc. However, you'll need a kiln for them, but they behave similarly to silver clay.

@metalclay-silberladen-atАй бұрын
We're glad to hear that! After firing, we use coarse sandpaper and progressively move to finer grits. We start with about 120 grit and work our way up to finer ones (2000+ grit). To patina the copper, we use Baldwin's Patina. Greetings!🙂

I believe if you use flux, it will stop fire scale. Also, if you take a permanent marker and mark on your silver, and then you’ll the permanent marker disappears and you know that you’re silver and kneeled enough. Also rotate your silver ring in the opposite direction when you hammer with your mallet that way it ensures both sides around it evenly

High what a very detailed video this is :) May I ask what preferred Gauge silver is best to make the core of the ring ? I have some silver sheet and it’s 0.7 thickness . Do you also recommend a certain width to the ring ? ❤
@metalclay-silberladen-atАй бұрын
Thank you so much for your feedback! 😊 Essentially, the width and thickness of the inner ring are entirely up to you. We like to use a thickness between 0.5 and 0.8 mm, so your silver sheet should work perfectly! Have fun crafting! ❤

Hi! Thank you for this video! I'd like to ask, why it need so long to burn in the kiln and also what is the purpose of paper strips glued to silver base of the ring? Thank you ❤
@metalclay-silberladen-atАй бұрын
Thank you for your feedback! 😊 The long firing time ensures that the piece sinters properly, achieving maximum stability and strength. Metal clay shrinks during firing, and that's where the paper strips come in. They act as a kind of buffer, preventing the metal clay from cracking due to the significant tension that would otherwise build up. ✨

@a.m.kelsey78212 ай бұрын
Really nice final result. The pro tip of using some post-it paper to account for shrinking is helpful - the paper simply burns away in the firing process?
@metalclay-silberladen-at2 ай бұрын
Thank you very much for your feedback! Yes, the paper simply burns away. It ensures that the metal clay doesn't crack during firing, as otherwise, too much tension would build up. You should expect a shrinkage of about 8-10% with Art Clay. Best regards!
