None except that W is used in some foreign words instead of V. I don't get why it's a part of the alphabet either..

in most language W is just shit as a person who know's more then 6 alphabet i don't get it.........

@Kamil Debiola that kind of defeats the purpose of using IPA to make clear what sounds to say. Usinɡ /tʃ/ for both /tʃ/ and /c/ is like usinɡ th for both /θ/ and /ð/. This video is about Slovak where č and ť make different sounds and if someone attempted to speak Slovak while pronouncinɡ ť as č, they would sound very weird, turninɡ all words normally with ť into gibberish and other people may not always understand.

what is so "wtf" about it? it is as it is.. for example word Vŕba (Willow) is pronounced with that rrrr, it sounds different if you just put simple r there

@@MyPieceOfHell We also say vrba in Srbian. We also prounounce it rrrr... We just don't make a difference and do not complicate things. The sound is R whether it is RRRR or R.. We automaticlly know how to write in Serbian/Croatian once we learn 30 letters.. In Slovak you have to learn not only letters but some words as well how to write them... A child can't make a difference between rrrrr and r. You have to tell him: now this word we write like this because of this little sound difference, can you hear it rrrr? ... You don't get the point because your alphabet is not fonetic... We don't spell in Serbian/Croatian ever. Spelling is same as readig or speaking the word how it sounds. V - R - B - A.. it is not Ve - er - be - a... it is spelled VRBA and pronounced VRBA. Easy.

Hi, i and y do sound the same. The difference is just a matter of grammar and how they affect the consonants before them. When the consonant that can be made soft is followed by i it (usually) is pronounced soft: liter is pronounced as if it was written ľiter. E has the same effect: dej [ďej]. When the consonant is followed by y you can be 100 % sure it is pronounced hard, meaning just as it is written: dym [dim] (not [ďim] as it would if it was written dim), tyč [tič]. Also the ý/í differentiate the singular/plural of masculine animate adjectives and I'm sure there's more grammatical uses they carry, I just don't know them not having studied it from the point of view of a second language. Hope this helps a bit :)

@@martinamicicovaluptakova9166 Musím ťa opraviť, pri slovách prebratých z cudzích jazykov je nesprávne mäkčiť. Napríklad ten liter, je správnejšie povedať "lyter", ale to je len taká maličkosť. Vysvetlila si mu to dobre.

Well I am an Albanian trying to learn Slovak.I can say for sure that our alphabet is kinda the same in pronounciation but just in writing that it differs.Albanian is created from old latin a bit.
