I find this scene very disappointing: Garish; theatrically camp; psychologically false. The scene MIGHT have worked if she had danced frantically but in silence. The addition of the loud music turns pathos into kitsch.

Vivien Leigh era um lindo anjo que Deus enviou a Terra somente para embelezar ainda mais o mundo.❤

She’s just too beautiful to be believable in this role. She’s still a fabulous actress though.

The biography of Vivien by Anne Edwards talks about the screen test and how it was obvious Vivien was all wrong for the role. I see now what Anne Edwards meant.

There was a he said, she said over this scene between Stanley Kramer and Vivien Leigh, Kramer taking credit for the idea of Mary Treadwell breaking into the Charleston. From Kramer's side of the story, he recognized there was little physical action he could introduce into the drama. He therefore added images in key moments such as, Spanish dancing, a man overboard and blasts from the ship's horn for emphasis. He said, "it was my idea, I want credit for that one." In the original version of the script, Leigh was to navigate the stairs and corridor, walking drunk to her cabin. Leigh however, contended it was she with the brainstorm for Mary Treadwell to experience a "fleeting reprise of blithe spirit" breaking into dance. She claimed it based on her Libby "solo dance in the dark" from, "St. Martin's Lane - Sidewalks of London" (1938).

La Novicia rebelde.... La Vi por primera vez cuando tenía como 8 años en la década de los 80. Hoy ya tengo 42, y me sigue gustando como la vez primera... Fantástico recuerdos de una buena infancia.

I thought Leigh was quite good in her screen tests. But I thought her performances lacked the mixture of insecurity and nervousness that Joan Fontaine had brought to the role.

If Rebecca herself was shown on screen, Vivien Leigh would've been perfect!

Indubitably ! The ship leaves Vera Cruz at the beginning of the film and stops off at Cuba and Spain before ending up at the end of the movie at the German port city of Bremerhaven.

She is just amazing! But she wasn't perfect here. I don't think Mrs. DeWinter was the awkward person Joan portrayed her to be. Insecure, yes but intelligent no doubt with the things she did, art and she's telling us the whole story. Vivien just suits the part more because she looks youthful. The character was described with lanky hair but Vivien's bushy hair here isn't glamorous either. They would have to make an adjustment and style her like this instead of the brownish blonde hair which they tested her with later. She does appear naive as the character was supposed to be but sounds confident and assertive. I have no doubt she would have excelled in the part. She wanted it to act with Laurence, yes but knowing Hitchcock directed it and her professionalism, it would have been a good performance, not as great as GWTW and ASND. It's a pity because she was at her prime around this time not solely for looks but in particular, the voice. Her voice was ruined later and affected her performances. If she did Rebecca, Laurence Olivier would have refused to act with her sooner than he did later after Lady Hamilton.

С.) СПб "An Angel from a Childhood" You are my angel! In the childhood in a dream - far away, I saw you and fell in love. In the lunar translucent haze - a lonely image ... - Fluffy snow moves smoothly over the surface of the earth. From all sides gently blowing fresh air. The night languished in an easy awakening. Everything around moves in a mysterious range of subtle forms. - You were that sweet vision! You sang songs to me, with slow movements of the palm threw Snowflakes. They enchantingly danced the waltz in the air. The voice was sonorous, sensual, charming, unearthly. He caressed the rumor with divine intoxication. After, my fairy whispered in my ear, Telling a wonderful fairy tale, The air stream tickles him with a light breath. At the same time, gently tickling his eyes and hair on his head. The wonderful image of my heart quietly disappeared: He retired like a fantastic comet - Upward, where the brilliance of the stars is boundlessly connected With eternity. "And I'm sad to think about this now." 26 - 27. 07. 2017 Author: Alexander Ern (KS) St. Petersburg
