policemen are unable to see financial crime, if its within the bank of england. so they are guards, not police,

I remember in the early seventies I was mucking about with fireworks 💥 the local Bobby appeared from no where , the next thing I knew he was round my house having a cup of tea with my mum until I got home from school and he showed me a book with injuries caused by fireworks “ I respected him and listened .

I cannot imagine policemen walking a beat without being armed! Not even a night stick could I see. Being an American I cannot imagine such a thing.

I was stationed at that nick from 1974 to 1978 and i well remember shaking hands with door knobs on night shift as even in those days alarms were few and far between. The depiction in the film is very true to life as what our typical day included at that time. We did by that time however have radios although they were very unreliable !! . We still used to "point" that is meeting up with a supervisor a couple of times a shift for a chat and for him to make sure your pocket notebook was up to date with what you had been doing during your shift. They were good days now sadly gone.

The "anonymous British city" is Leicester. In fact, when I watched this video, right at the beginning I said "Hang on, that's the café at St Margarets bus station!". It was when I saw the front of Charles Street police station that I knew it had to be Leicester. Then, later in the video, you see the Clock Tower if any further proof was needed. Speaking of St Margarets bus station, you get a brief glimpse right at the start of the old bus shelters they used to have. I remember waiting in those to catch the number 93 (I think) Midland Red bus to Birstall. I wonder if the bus station café still operates there, I never could afford to buy anything but it was warmer to wait in there sometimes that at the bus shelter. Some fabulous views of old Leicester, then. I still remember before the Clock Tower, Humberstone Gate, Gallowtree gate and High Street were pedestrianised being in my dad's car waiting at the traffic lights adjacent to the Clock Tower. All changed now, of course. I wonder if the "city park" they mention is in fact Abbey Park. If so, he had quite a sized beat! By the way, when the policeman leaves home he rides his bike down Border Drive toward what is now Red Hill Way. If anyone recognises any other roads/landmarks in the film please mention them.

In those days Mr Plod was unfettered to beat you up, kick you in the face, plant evidence, falsely arrest you, ruin your life, lie under oath and even kill you, with impunity. Some even got a medals for their pernicious maleficence. They taught generation after generation to hate the Fuzz and to never trust them or The British Crown they operate under; this is the present state we are now in. They are reaping what they sowed.

This is an ideal world which is hugely romanticised. There were dirty cops, gangs and organised crime even in those days. This entire video is simply explaining the ideal role of a policeman/woman in society. If you think Britian was anything like this in the real world, you are dreaming and an easy target for propaganda. Get real. We have always had immigrants from distant lands doing the jobs you dont want to/can't do and serving in our public sectors too. Illegal immigrants have always been a thing because of the mafias and criminal organisations (trafficking etc). Population was much lower back then and people were raised to be better because there was something called community which came with expectations(dress code, decent behaviour and a friendly disposition) and consequences (loss of benefits/help from neighbours). This is connected to when we also had religious values and commitments (church on Sundays, fêtes etc). They also had more opportunities back then because of community help in terms of business. You forget that big corp has taken over the highstreet. There are far less independent shops for us to be interested in and willing to help. The state has taught you to rely on it almost entirely whereas they were taught how to rely on themselves to get things done for their respective communities (litter picking, removing debris etc and essentially working with the police to ensure the security of the neighbourhood). If you have not done any of these things yourself, you have no right to complain. End of day the "country" wasnt a bother so long as your local community was okay.

But the people back then were way way way way way nicer, polite, considerate, nice good people Today's society , sexual disgrace, drug addicted, gang involment, drug takers, stabbings gone mad, disgraceful chavs worst thing to come about in society is the tracksuit chavs , crimminals running riot, kids killing kids. The old society in our days, was far better and better manners, better areas to live in, helped and we actually made cinvetsarions Not stood there or looked paranoid and nervous like most of maiden day people look. You can,t even talk to each other your that soft and afraid .

Received a few clips around the ear from police then when got home received the slipper. Discipline and respect. Could get cane at school. Great time growing up but knew right from wrong. Worked to get pocket money saving for something we wanted. Worked hard to save so could play. Good music, great parties. Some had it very tough. No central heating so usually had ice on the inside of windows. Cars were a luxury so plenty of walking and cycling. Walked 2miles to school each day. Sunday school each Sunday. Happy Days.

For everyone that goes 'oh why can't modern cops be like this?' because the world changed, we have to wear stab vests now, we have to deal with drug users who will try and bite your face off, the world in which an officer could be like this is long gone.
