I had a mourning dove who sat outside my window as a child, I would get up and yell at it then tell my mom I hated the who who bird who'd woke me up. I suppose it's a spirit animal.....lol.

Mourning Dove! Could be! Been near me my whole life in one way or another. So common I remember being really small and thought it was my older cousin messing with me in the woods. He was good at mimicking it and lived nearby. Nope, just hogging the bird seed outside!
