Your demonstration on how to visualize the forms was super funny to me because it’s basically the first step I use for my smooth shading process that gives me the cleanest result. It’s actually really helpful to draw out the guidelines/ map the surface when you’re working with more complicated forms so this tutorial is useful even if you are doing cell shading

Hey! I commented on this a few days ago but I think my comment was automatically removed because I had a few links included where I showed the results of when I drew along with your video. I just wanted to thank you so much for this tutorial. The circle/freestyle method felt really intuitive and the way you explain just resonates with me so much. I've been looking back at this video a few times already to practice. What I find the most challenging is where to place the eye sockets and after that know how I can play around with how far I want to stretch the shape of the eyelids. As the length of the "directional half circles" are made, I don't easily see the pattern of where the eyes should go. But I think it might be a matter of practice and trying to understand the anatomy of the head. Again, just a big thanks from my heart for these tutorials, I think they are the best!

Hey @Rennert100 ! Thank you for the heartwarming comment! And also thank you for writing the comment the second time :) Regarding the eyesocket thing and placing the eyes, I have failed with the video, but I will do better next time. About the eyes though, yes, practice is needed and it's not easy. A quick tip would be to understand that the eyes are inside the skull and that the eyes are not on top of the face but kind of inside the face. Hope this makes any sense. I will try to do how to draw anime eyes video soon, but won't be sure whether it's for members or for KZbin. This video was for both. Regardless, just practice, study and repeat. You will get there.

Actually I learnt a few things I didn't know or had doubts about their use. I guess doing the lines to get a better feeling of the volumes of the elements to shade will be a good help to avoid the brain go loco with the shape of the shadows, and then to stop doing them when it starts to do it automatically in your mind's eye. Thanks for sharing your experience 👍

I like AI art because I like looking at my favorite characters. I can make 200 images of my favorite characters wearing new clothes, doing new things, and in new locations. There's simply not enough fanart online to satisfy my desires. And I don't have the money or desire to commission 200 drawings. Soon enough, we will be able to manipulate AI art in even finer ways. We'll have AI animations, and everything. For most people, art is something that carries an emotion. To me, AI art brings me joy, Human art brings me joy (usually). Sure you can think of it as the process, but in the end, most people, myself included mostly care about the result. The human side is a lovely touch. Is it wrong that they trained on copyrighted art? I did not fact check, but if it's true, yes. Still, at the end of the day, a program looked at millions or billions of pictures, and found patterns. It encoded these patterns into many arrays of numbers, which it multiplies together. AI art is a mathematical calculation. It looked at all the art online and combined it into a math equation. But let's be honest... soon enough, they will train a model purely on AI generated art which excludes human made art as direct training data. At that point, is really is just patterns, and not direct pasting. It wont output any already copyrighted data.

I think I accidentally removed one comment. I do apologize for it. I surely didn't intend to do that. But to quickly comment on the comment. Yes, it does seem that the majority of money from AI image generation is being made by the small businesses and services that offer image generation not the the ones who sell the end result.
@Jamazed

AI art is used and perceived similarly to ChatGPT papers. It generates something barely serviceable by people who can't be bothered to care. These people won't find jobs or be able to compete with real experts who put in the time to specialize in their field. The only money to be made with AI art are the software engineers and business teams who develop and maintain the service.

Your words really hit some downs I had through the year.. but I think you're absolutely right. Cameras didn't replace art, Photography is now just a form of art. The same goes for PhotoShop, etc. etc. no doubt artists will find creative ways to use AI and thus making it truly AI art, but the vast majority will just create uninteresting/soulless pictures, as was the case with cameras and photoshop. You're completely right on the part of the Artist always finding a way to create, because there is that internal drive of wanting to do so, wanting to grasp and play with emotions. Thanks.

While AI art is always getting better, I always feel like the main quirks of it never really go away, and because of that I don't think it's a big threat to art. It will most likely always look worse to actual art. I can only see AI becoming a 'problem' if it gets turned into a tool that let's artist have control of it enough for it get that human touch and control it lacks right now. But at that point it might cross over to being a tool like content aware scale, healing brush etc. The only real danger is if people start accepting something that looks subpar and off, but if we get there it's not because of AI tools, but us
@okuha
@okuha 10 ай бұрын
Nicely thought out and yes I do agree with you. It does become a real problem if people stop caring about real digital art and accept subpar artworks. The thing I believe the most is that people won't get away from and can't stop that inner need and urge to create with their hands, and imagination.

@@aura7117 Definition of art: the expression or application of HUMAN creative skill and imagination. AI generated images are content, not art. They are commissions people did not want to pay another human for. Quick soulless money grab.
@etogrs
@etogrs 9 ай бұрын
@aura7117 It's really not LOL, people who don't make art for a living look at ai art as not human or creative. Sure, they look at it as something interesting, until they get bored in 10 minutes and move onto something actually productive. Digital artists already had a stigma about not being real artists because digital is "easy to make" how do you think people look at ai? In the case with digital art, seeing the process of how it's created actually earns the artist respect. It's the opposite with ai, to the average person, seeing how it's created reduces it's value greatly. The appeal with art was never the outcome, it's the creation. Didn't think that was such a complicated thing to understand.
