Inspirational! Thanks for sharing your skills. I am sending this video to my brother, who rescued a lot of burls off of our fatally- damaged oak tree. The Valley Fire of 2015 did a lot of damage to our home and trees. . My brother did specialized cabinetry on luxury yachts for over 20 years, and I am excited to see what he will create!

thanks, but I expected you say about curl and flame, since burl is known well for wood workers and very obvious signs it has, but curly woods are harder to identify,

The work is nice but the camera positioning stinks. Show the side where the tool is, not the opposite side.

Just got a question , I live in New Brunswick Canada on the Miramichi .and I have a few big wood lots and 1 is 357 acres, not a big piece of ground, but it's old growth hardwood ridge.and I select cut my curly , birdseye and veneers. But someone went through and knocked out a piece of bark about 6x6 inches on alot of my dollar sticks. I was told that I have to cut them now ,because it will make the wood heal like litterly like an asshole , thus making it firewood .is that true?

They say Americans and the English are the same nations only divided by the same language. Where Sara says Fungi (she pronounces it fun g) we pronounce it fun guy. Just a noting that. What a great video, it's still as relevant today as it was when first aired 5 years ago

Theses self appointed tree experts are all the same they mix a little bit of what is, or at least should be obvious to anyone who has ever been anywhere around a tree that's been cut down or dealt with fire wood or basically has had any freaking thing to do with 'tree still on the bark' with a handful of good old fashion snake oil salesman talk and make up the rest as they go along. This clown here is a perfect example of why the tree/wood market is so screwed up!

Hi,I have a question regarding the processing of a maple burl I have . It is in the 15 in range and is still green. I am wanting to process it for knife scales or knife handle blocks 4 in sq. x 6 in long. I have searched KZbin and have came up with very little information. I am hoping you can help me in this process.. Thanks in advance.. Martin M&S Blades

Hi Rick, Thanks for taking the time to show all of us your set-up! When I was collecting minerals and making jewelry I set up a photo booth that worked great on the minerals but I never got the hang of taking great photos of my jewelry.I have a NIKON and I can set everything manually but that didn't help with the jewelry! I have a quick question,,,,Where do you get your film developed? Tom

Hello man. your channel is great for a young aspiring woodcarver like me. I am able to get a hold of a few birch burls and i am wondering what the best way to dry them is without making them crack at the same time as i would like them to dry fast
