You can see the soulless look in Buckley's eyes. He does not give a single solitary fuck about this speech. Heartless bastard. And yet people like him actually exist. Much like Spacey himself. It's tragically fitting that a piece of shit person played a piece of shit character.

In the actual event that inspired John Grisham to write the Novel A Time to Kill an African-american man (Willie James Harris) raped and tried to kill two white girls, 12-yo Marcie Scott and 16-yo Julie Scott. No need to imagine she's white. They were.

This is absolutely absurd. To suggest that the people of the south are so awful that a jury must picture a black little girl who was beaten and raped as a white little girl before they cared, is ridiculous. I have lived in the south my whole life. They are the friendliest people you ever want to meet. There is not one single person that I have met in the south that would not care if a black little girl was raped and beaten. This is why I despise John Grisham. He has made a living shitting all over the south and the southern people. It's a disgrace.

Best legal scripted closing scene ever. In dealing with racism. I remember the reaction and shock. I remember how it made me feel. And the uncomfortable silence after. By us, the audience. Even Samuel L Jackson did know it was coming nor the other cast. This was pure raw emotion. MCConaughey had during this scene. 😢

This book, then movie, are based on a true story. However, the truth is 2 black criminals broke into the home where 2 young girls lived. Their parents were at work and their 16 and 12 year old were at home alone. Sadly, both girls were raped by one of the intruders while the other one robbed their home. The rapist, worried about being identified, stabbed and beat both girls repeatedly. However, both survived.
