Absolutely stunning work! Thank you so much for sharing the creative process for us to enjoy as well - I was blown away watching the entire thing come together. The wispiness of the felt expresses the swirls of flame and fur incredibly well. I especially love how the longer fur around her collar turned out, and the addition of the dust cloud + flowers on the stand to compliment her running pose. Using a different material to create the Reflector was an excellent choice as well, making it feel appropriately solid for wrecking baddies. The entire thing feels like a loving tribute to Amaterasu in all her glory, haha. I'm also glad to see another Okami fan hyped about the recent announcement! I'll enjoy watching the rest of your felting videos while waiting for more news :-]

Super adorable!✨ I’m a bit curious; do you put any wires in your creations?
@Thekarrybird27 күн бұрын
Yes! Wire is what i use to mount them to bases and keeps them stable. For small guys i usually don't use it that much, but for big guys it's almost required for limbs in order to pose them and keep them from getting all wonky!

Your felting are always so amazing!! I always pick up a new trick or two while watching them, you're so good at the small details. Can't wait to see you tackle (wink wink nudge nudge) pokemon like Giratina and Regigigas down the line. Will you be including form changes as well? Or megas from gen 6? Edit: re read the description 🤦♀️ ignore my first question.

Hi! I just started felting, after watching your Hydrapple project - that inspired me to make a Bulbasaur (which was way more complicated than I thought it would be since I decided it would be a good idea to make interchangeable magnetic bulbs.....) Watching this makes me want to felt even more Pokemon <3 Hopefully my next few projects will be easier, I'm learning so much from you! I can't wait to see more of your projects!! Also - if it's not too much trouble, what is the little iron thingy you're using at 5:20 to flatten the leaves?

This is so cool and very relaxing to watch! A very impressive challenge you've given yourself. Do you plan on making each pokemon proportional to their actual sizes? (Say, Girarina towering over Grovyle), or will all of them be itty bitty cuties? Also, thank you so much for including the materials and tools!
@Thekarrybird8 ай бұрын
As awesome as that would be I don't think I'd be able to get them all done within this century if they were all proportional haha. Though I will probably end up making the legendaries bigger than the rest! Part of the challenge will be keeping them small because I'm very bad at letting things get way bigger than intended!

Very inspiring! Genious to add the legs like that, I have always incorporated them into the "skeleton" but this is much better. I actually made a base yesterday for a long, thin monster, and then I saw this - I will let myself be inspired by it! Many thanks!
@Thekarrybird8 ай бұрын
Thank you! Yeah i find making the whole skeleton connected really limits your felting mobility around the figure. Trying to felt the armpits when there's all that wire in there is a nightmare!

OH i wanted to ask what the metal tool was that you use to go over what you have done! Im assuming its like, a heating plate or something to maybe melt/singe the loose fibers? Ive tried lightly snipping over my stuff but it doesnt really work all that well for me 😅
@Thekarrybird10 ай бұрын
Awe I really appreciate it!! I hope to get more videos out more consistently, there aren't enough felting videos out there haha! That tool I use is the clover mini iron. It is a little hot plate that smoothes surfaces down. Very good for details like eyes and stripes which tend to stick out all bumpy like after felting. I also do some snipping of the long fibers to clean it up a bit, I do that before applying heat.

When you over felt a portion, this can be resolved by a technique i saw in another video. This has been my problem as well. Add smaller pieces of wool to the project at a time, the way a sculptor of clay would work. This is best used on the parts like the head. I saw them always fold a piece of wool in half and use the folded edge as a leading side of a muscle or the forehead of the dragon. Pretend that you are using clay instead of wool. Just add each of the smaller pieces of wool with less felting and then when you have finish the basic shape, you can go over the entire piece with the needle and it all just shrinks down. I love this dragon and want to make one!

@Thekarrybird11 ай бұрын
Thank you so much!! I mainly use the wool from feltedsky. It's super soft and amazing to felt with and i try to use it exclusively if i can. Though if they don't have a color i need i turn to DHG wool! They are a brand that's commonly sold from etsy sellers.

Incredible work <3 the way you layer and put everything together is so clean... also, can I ask what the big mat you work on is btw? Is it just made of the same felt as your creations? And did you buy it, or just make it yourself? (I should probably get one, but I don't want to waste too much of my felt on it,, ;^^)
