Operculicarya sp and Pachypodium sp especially P. rosulatum are being decimated by poaching, if it continues, they will become extinct in the wild.

It's my first time growing this type of plant so I planted the seeds on a pot and it has grown very tall on sticks but hasn't sprouted any flowers so by any chance I cut it and it will regrow because I'm planing to transplant to a different area?

I just stumbled upon your channel-why haven't I discovered it earlier? I'm absolutely obsessed with flowers, plants, and cooking. South East Asia is my jam! I've practically spent my entire life here, well, besides being born in Sweden. But hey, Luzon Northern Philippines is my true home sweet home. Oh, and did I mention I'm happily hitched to a fabulous Filipina? Now, let's talk about Hong Kong, baby! It holds a very special place in my heart-it was my first taste of South East Asia. The people, the culture, and oh my, the mind-blowing Chinese Hong Kong style food! Pure bliss. Now here's the real deal-I've been binge-watching your videos like there's no tomorrow. Your content is so addictive! I've also got my own mini garden going on here, filled with fancy caudex plants. And guess what? I recently planted some fiery peppers to see how they'll survive in this Philippine heat. Exciting, right? Keep doing what you do, my friend! Sending loads of love and support from the enchanting Philippines! 🇵🇭

Really great documentary! Thank you for that! Unfortunately there is not much good content on caudiciforms out there. It's still a niche hobby. On the other hand it's also a good thing because caudex plants grow slowly and most can only be propagated by seeds so there would probably be a lot more poaching, if they were more popular.

hahaha this is the first I've discovered this channel lolz. I really agree though, nothing wrong with people operating accounts throughout their lives and changing things as needed its just important for people not to let online become their life. And its not like the stuff isn't still here to watch and enjoy. I like when people follow their own priorities and don't stress about always being here for "fans" or whatever. Thanks for all you have shared and I look forward to seeing your video's on this playlist from such a humble gardener. Also nice to see someone not always so perfect infront of the camera although I do appreciate the work people go through to make takes and show what is possible to millions of viewers. For people who love to learn more then follow trends, we love channels like this. Such an underrated channel indeed. :)

Looks like mostly Lava rock, pumice, and turface. Those three are usually a good place to start in pretty much any ratio, and you can use whichever is readily available locally. Amending with zeolite, compost, akadama or sand can also help if you need more water retention.

They plump out a lot more if you give them just a couple more days, or maybe these plants are of puny stock lol. Bigger pots could also help with vigor, idk they just look puny to me.

Anyone know what agave sp. the guy is holding at 0:57, the one just to the right as he puts the pot down (looks like titanota but which one?) and the agave at 1:08 thanks!
@chapa435ify
@chapa435ify Жыл бұрын
At :57 that does indeed look like a titanota cultivar. Same with the one he was holding. Recently many titanota were placed into a new species named oteroi and you can find similar cultivars under those two species names. Many of the more spectacular cultivars have Japanese names that escape me lol At 1:08 the plants being watered are staghorn ferns.

Loved the artistic match of pots and plants. Here in Australia I grow many agaves- they are drought tolerant, sun and shade tolerant, frost tolerant and of course, so beautiful. The artistic inspiration is obvious in the works on the wall

The thing I want to know- these plants seem super old. Are they seed grown or poached from the wild? Most of this growth seems typical of wild specimens, and I’m very wary of poaching of caudiciform plants
@CJSeibold

Sadly, most of the plants shown in the video are decades old and poached from the wild. The Asian market is decimating wild populations of plants and they just don't care about it at all. Only buy seeds (from a reputable source) and you're guaranteed to have an ethical Pachypodium in no time!

Seeds are a Lot faster than cuttings. The seed can germinate in weeks, maybe even days. The cutting will take you a lot longer.
