Thailand was so much nicer when I stayed there in 1997. It's so built up now and too many people, it kills the vibe of the place. Got proper back packers everywhere now plus the infrastructure has really changed. Shame it's not the same place. I learnt to scuba dive on Koh Tel, it was much quieter back then. Thailand is still beautiful, just too many people even granny can get there now, before it was dirt roads, not so convenient to get around

shame, way too many greedy people, it's like phi phi now !! i think Ko Lanta is much nicer, so many boats here they just wreck it, they arent even relaxing, all on their phones...just shows ho the world has over populated over the last 20 years.

Koh Lipe has unfortunately become a textbook example of how mass tourism can destroy a once-beautiful destination. The island is overcrowded, overpriced, and chaotic. The sheer volume of tourists has turned it into a noisy and unpleasant place, with moto-taxis zipping around constantly, creating unnecessary traffic on such a small island. The beach facing east, which should be a serene tropical escape, has been transformed into a massive parking lot for taxi boats. There’s barely any space to lay down and enjoy the beach, and the constant smell of gasoline from the boats makes it unbearable. The damage extends far beyond the surface. The corals surrounding the island are dying, and the marine life is rapidly deteriorating due to pollution, boat traffic, and unchecked tourist activity. This destruction is heartbreaking for anyone who remembers the natural beauty this island once offered. Meanwhile, the locals are forced to live in a ghetto-like area, surrounded by trash and overshadowed by poorly constructed tourist bungalows. These accommodations cater to travelers seeking an "escape" from the chaos of their daily lives but instead find themselves in a place that feels more like a dystopian nightmare than a tropical paradise. The small walking street and the beaches are now teeming with people obsessively taking videos, selfies, and performing choreographed dances for social media. They project an illusion of happiness online, but in reality, they seem hollow and deeply unfulfilled. Koh Lipe is no longer the paradise it once was. If you value peace, authenticity, and the preservation of nature, avoid this island. For those who only contribute to its decline: stay home. Stop chasing happiness in places you’re helping to destroy.

Make sure to drop by The Beach in Hua Hin next time you are in town. The Beach in Hua Hin is the only Bar in Thailand that you can actually meet and talk with International Professional Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger Models.

Yes, there are more tourists than you'd ideally want on a pristine island like this. But half of these comments reek of arrogance and entitlement. "Just the right amount of me, way too much of you".
