I was really excited to try Dominique's Steakhouse, which opened last weekend. I visited twice, once midweek and again today. During my first visit, I had a couple of cocktails and the $42 crab cakes. The atmosphere was nice, but the food was overpriced for the quality, with the crab cakes being burnt. I chalked this up to opening jitters, thinking mistakes are part of the early days. Today’s experience was even worse. I sat at the bar, ordered a cocktail, and asked for a menu. They gave me a code to scan, but when I asked for a paper menu, the bartender said she’d get one, yet after 20 minutes, I still had none. I had to go to the greeter's booth to get one myself. After reading the menu, I waited for service, but no one came. Others who arrived after me were served and fed, while I sat there ignored. I decided to leave, asked for my check, tipped nothing, and went somewhere else. Dominique's projects a high-class image but delivers an experience more akin to Applebee's. It’s disappointing and not what I expected. I’ll give them another chance next year, hoping they’ve ironed out the issues. For now, I’d recommend checking it out for yourself, but manage your expectations.
