We don't have alpine lakes over in my part of the country but these work great on small streams. I prefer fly fishing but if I have to pack light, there is almost no excuse not to have a tenkara rod. Only a few ounces.

Hmm... Were both nights the same weather and atmospheric conditions? If you tested on two identical temp/weather night then valid but not knowing the ambient outside temp leaves doubts...🤔

Filter then boil. Never use a survival water filter for a casual backpacking trip and then not boil the water, but if you do always throw it away and buy a new one for the next trip.

Be careful when using Klymit sleeping pads, their R-values are too high because they cheat with their measurements.

I highly recommend iodine tablets as well as a filter for your water… the iodine tablets purify it and make it safer to drink by killing bacteria and what not
@shaneodraino822213 күн бұрын
Or boiling your water before you drink it also purifies it, iodine tablets are just easier

I'm trying to assemble my first ever camping set up and this sleeping bag popped up on my radar, but I would like to see how it packs. being a synthetic sleeping bag, doest it compact a lot less than the down ones?

With respect dude... Until you have more experience and yes I am judging by your age. Idaho no doubt has some of the best fishing in the country. Fish the Kenai River near the Russian River and then comment. I am sure other fisherman have their own suggestions.

This is so sweet. I wanna take my mom backpacking too, she's 54. I asked her if I wanna go away for a few days, will it be oka, she asked if she could go with me. That was pretty sweet, I hope I can convince her to go backpacking with me too, this is so beautiful, your mom is beautiful! God speed to you both!

Yeah this gear is expensive. I am using this as a guide, all kinds of price points on any of the gear. Find what works for you, that’s what I did.

What if you're in the backcountry and there's a coffee emergency? Do you suggest we initiate a rescue in case the solar cells fail to supply sufficient charge to the espresso machine?
@ramdas36327 күн бұрын
Make sure you have a way to reach emergency services in case you need rescuing from your back yard. Since I didn't see any food in the video, it's easy to starve.

No man, you don't have to say, "don't take a cot". 22 seconds in, and I've had enough. I guess you're speaking to a US audience, which is thick as sh'''t.

Jon. Thank you so much for your videos. I was going through a tough time in life and I watched video got my gear and headed out on my multi night adventure to find the sign. I found it. Thank you for a life changing experience ❤✌🏼. I ended up doing 96 miles in 8 days between Alice Toxaway loop and boulder lake loop with many detours.
