How exactly does disabling VCM affect fuel economy? Considering how the VCM disablers work, it supplies a false data of the ect2 to the ECU, giving the impression that the engine is not warmed up. If the ECU thinks the car is not warmed up, it will not engage VCM. But does this not also mean that the ECU will not go into closed loop? Does this not also mean that the ECU will keep burning more fuel to try to get the engine to operating temperature? This means very poor fuel economy. Please shed more light on this. Thanks.
@btechnol11 күн бұрын
Your logic is solid. My understanding is that it holds the false temp just below the level to engage the VCM. My fuel economy has not changed. The engine does burn less oil.

ELV is not for extra low voltage... it stands for Electronic Low Voltage. When dimming, it cuts the trailing edge of the sine wave and is more friendly for the electronic transformer that drives the LED.

How did you install this hand choke? I have the same issue with my conversion but seems like this hand choke mod works every single time for you.
@btechnol19 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching! The hand choke is using my hand to cover the air inlet while running the starter. This creates a strong vacuum to pull gas into the system. When I hear the first sign of ignition, I remove my hand to allow air into the system. It takes a bit of practice, but is extremely effective.

Great video! Typically don't see many with the this level of technical insight as to why "it's not running right". One question - have you tested the max watts after adjustment to determine if it changed? And if so, is it consistent with the rating or closer to the higher rating using another fuel? With that ability to adjust and monitor, in theory it may be possible to match the higher rating?

I don't even have a neutral wire in my box. I watched a different video of a guy with a flickering/fluttering issue on canned lights and he essentially said he had to change out the fixtures in order to resolve the flickering/fluttering issue. I'm having a little bit of fluttering on my bathroom fixture I installed a Lutron Maestro but it's not terrible. My house was built in 2009 and the fixture is original. That was back before all this LED stuff so the fixture was meant to be used with halogen. I'm wondering if the main issue here is a mismatch between fixtures and bulbs. It's rare for people to update fixtures so I'm sure most of us are trying to use decade + old fixtures with the newer LED bulbs and switches. Anyways... thank you for the video!

Back in 2019, my 2002 Chevy truck had a loud lifter ticking noise.The oil was a quart low, so I added a quart of Marvel Mystery Oil to the crankcase. Soon the lifter ticking noise disappeared. I drove the truck about 400 miles and when I changed the oil, it was extremely dirty. Now after an oil change and when it is a quart low on oil, I add a quart of MMO for preventative maintenance. I have also been using Marvel Mystery Oil in the gas in my car, truck, and lawn mower at every fill up since 2016. Everything is running better than ever, and my car now gets at least an extra one to two more miles per gallon.

Your calibration procedure is too complicated and error prone. Here's what to do. Put a spot of ink somewhere on on the table. Position one of the indicators (let's call it A) on that spot. Lower the quill to zero it. Be sure to make the needle go around once or twice, and note the small dial's reading too. Now turn the spindle 180° so that indicator B is on the ink spot. Lift both indicator plungers as you swing the tool so that they don't drop into table slots. Now zero indicator B by turning the bezel. Don't move the quill, and be sure the small dial read the same too. Now both indicators read the same on the same spot, so it's calibrated. No blocks or straightedges needed, and it will even compensate for other problems, like an imperfect collet. This is analogous to checking a level by reversing it to see if the bubble looks the same both ways. In use and you won't need to take notes or do arithmetic. And you won't need to turn it around or zero it. Simply adjust tram until both dials read the same. You can also tram with a single dial indicator, but the spindle square is a nice tool. It's easy to make one, and would be an excellent beginner project, and save yourself some money. I like the .0005" reading indicators on this unit, that's really nice, but ordinary .001 reading indicators from HF are fine.

If your changing your oil on time,,,,,,,As in every 5k for petrol engines,And 4K for diesel,,You should never need to use flushes,,The add package and detergents in a good quality full syn,,Are more than good enough to keep your engine clean,,,Another thing that keeping your oil clean and changing it regularly does ,,And you never hear anyone including these so called experts say is,,It keeps all the gaskets and O rings in your engine from degrading and going brittle ,,Which means no engine oil leaks,,,Changing your manual trans with new good quality oil every 60k will keep gaskets and O rings supple and give you smooth gear changes,,

Flushing. You should NOT rev to the red line. Idle the engine for 20 minutes. (With the new, cheap oil). This is fine. Then, Drive it for 2,000 miles. Drain the oil. Use what you want as you want that said MMO is a pretty weak solvent. I've used it in several oil changes over the full oil change and I've never really noticed any difference in cleaning under the valve cover from doing so. It just seems pretty mild even over 3k miles (about 1.5 years of driving for me) I can't imagine it would due to much in 10 mins to be fair. Use it how you please by all means, just after 5+ years of regular use along with name brand oil its not made much difference in the varnish on my motor. I like the product, I just don't consider it a strong cleaner.
@btechnol5 ай бұрын
This makes a lot of sense! Do you have any suggestions for what to try?
@GainingDespair5 ай бұрын
@@btechnol No, sorry not really. I think if there was an easy solution motor oil companies would already be using it. I think some additives can clean but I also believe there is a trade off like increased wear. While I can only speculate I have to imagine motor oil companies have a reason for not using strong cleaners. I don't mind a little bit of wear if I can clean the motor some personally, I drive so little, and all my vehicles have been used so it's normal for them to use some oil. I just try to take care of them as best as possible. If I wanted something which would clean I would look at Redlines line of oils which have a lot of Ester, the oil is pretty expensive due to Ester not being cheap but it's a high quality base oil with a history of cleaning.

@btechnol5 ай бұрын
I can personally vouch for the one I used in the video. The link to it is in the description. It has been operating flawlessly for months now. It uses the positive terminal because it is actually a small digital system that is actively measuring the engine temp and using a small program to decide what output to send to the ECM to safely keep the VCM turned off. This system also automatically bypasses itself when it senses the engine is overheating. Many of the other kits use a passive resistor that works in many but not all situations, so the VCM may turn back on at times.
