I haven’t seen this in years, but I remember liking it a lot! Especially Ina Claire, who is always wonderful.

What a horrible, depressing movie! I love Dorothy McGuire and Robert Young but I hated this. So sorry I wasted my time on it.

yeah what an exaggeration drama fairy tale almost the escape his face big on newspaper meet the young girl go to her house tom the clarinet found the moustaches immigration liutenant mean bad a story that dosen't exist in reality. made to emotion people only none will do something like that to a survivor from concetration camp especially when american were already over there in 1944 fighting to "free" europe from national socialism.

The setup of this story is so odd, that the "authorities" didn't just let this guy claim asylum. Compare this 1953 portrayal to the 2021 - 2024 treatment of 11 million illegal border crossers, let in freely by border patrol, wandering around the U.S. demanding citizenship.

The guy following him played the secretary on the TV series millionaire !!!

People make too big of deal about someone getting the name or description of the movie wrong. I doubt they do it on purpose. I enjoy the movie for what it is. I really liked this one! Plots and sub-plots, interesting characters, good acting, beautiful music. Sometimes you just have to laugh, e.g. the heroine jumping from boat, to a pier, to climbing about a cargo ship....all in a dress and high heels! Isn't that the point of movies....to entertain & let your imagination run free? THANK YOU for posting!

Never had heard of Vittorio Gassman, he's a damn good actor. Having Gloria Graham, a good actress in this, and very attractive, was a plus. And to see Jerry Paris with some acting chops, was a treat. He of course went on to be Dick Van Dyke's TV neighbor Jerry Helper, the Dentist, and a fine comedy director for many shows.
