Hey guys. What is the rule of thumb when it comes to using association OR dissociation in order to reprogram your unconscious mind? Like there is a video on your channel "Sports Hypnosis: How To Reach MAXIMUM Performance" (around the 1:30 mark) where you describe helping a swimmer, but it was done with dissociation.

100% facts. It was done to me as a kid by my moms boyfriend at the time. He said he was a wart dr. Had me close my eyes while he put pressure on it and told me to believe it would work, told me to say i believe it would work and then told me to open my eyes and that it would be gone in about a week. Sure enough, it was gone. Now im a hypnotist. Haha go figure.

Does Hypnosis have a clinically significant impact in Cancer Treatment?
@MikeMandelHypnosis3 күн бұрын
Hypnosis can be a helpful complement in cancer treatment. It’s been shown to reduce pain, anxiety, nausea, and fatigue, while improving sleep and emotional resilience. While it doesn’t treat cancer directly, it can enhance quality of life during treatment. Always consult a trained hypnotherapist and work alongside your oncology team.

Interesting technique. I have this question, how about we allow the client to face the fear directly instead of using dissociation, rewinding or skipping it. Go thru this movie over and over again... but with each loop add more and more agency. Allow yourself to feel the fear, let it out, and use it's energy to grow stronger. Kinda like the "letting go technique" by David R. Hawkins combined with future pacing/memory reframing.
@MikeMandelHypnosis2 күн бұрын
Great question! Facing fear directly can work in some cases, but the Rewind Technique is designed to reprocess the fear safely without retraumatizing the client. Dissociation neutralizes the emotional charge, and we follow it with future pacing to build agency. Both approaches can work-this one’s just faster and safer for most people! Anyone can go through our Academy, BTW. Free to get started at mikemandelhypnosis.com/join-mmha/

Use the word “think” instead. Tell them to think back to the situation. They might be able to see it in their mind once they think of it. Some people get caught up with the word “visualize.” I find that even a fuzzy picture or sense of the situation can be good enough. Hope that helps!☀️

Strangely enough, I'm unconvinced about most of Mandel's stage hypnosis shows. The French and Germans have been doing mesmerism for years. It's never gone away. It's just the American hypnotists prefer largely faked, alleged comedy hypnosis shows with one size fits all inductions that don't work on the majority of people, mainly because they're either too lazy or don't have the skills to do one on one inductions and fractionation. Mandel is just an entertainer who, as easily as possible, entertains the gullible with what they think is hypnotism, but which is largely people faking it, and he doesn't want anyone else who does hypnotism properly, coming along and pissing on his act.
@MikeMandelHypnosis4 күн бұрын
Mike Mandel is so much more than an entertainer-he’s a true master of hypnosis with decades of experience and a knack for teaching the real stuff. Sure, stage hypnosis is designed to entertain, but Mandel uses it to show how incredible the human mind can be. Behind the scenes, his Hypnosis Academy is all about empowering people with practical, ethical techniques that actually work, like fractionation and personalized inductions. To call it “faked” really doesn’t do him justice. Mandel’s all about raising the bar for hypnosis and sharing his knowledge to help others grow-not shutting them out. He’s not just putting on a show; he’s changing the way people see hypnosis. -MMHA Team

@@MikeMandelHypnosis First, you are frequently doing multiple techniques together, like the simultaneous theater technique and physical touch anchoring as just one example. Second, getting the subject to physically move and participate by actually reaching out and bringing the resource her into herself is very powerful. And third, making sure she claims the power over the change work is so important.

Brilliant points, and I also think about the cautionary tale of a colleague who was charged with "practicing therapy without proper licensure" The case was ultimately thrown out but only after a lot of stress, money and grief. The authoritarians are spending other people's money and have few if an repercussions. My point is just be aware, there are malicious actors in authority who will use the process itself to hurt people whether they have a legitimate case or not
@MikeMandelHypnosis9 күн бұрын
You’re absolutely right. The system can be harsh, and sometimes it’s not even about whether the case is legitimate-it’s about the toll it takes.

Coercive control is illegal anyway, at least in my country.
@rosegalbraith18219 күн бұрын
Coercive control is nothing to do with hypnosis. Hypnosis is helping a person to relax and free their subconscious mind to do what it knows is right for the person… nobody can force you to do anything under hypnosis, you have free will,
@MikeMandelHypnosis9 күн бұрын
Coercive control is manipulative and abusive, while hypnosis is a consensual, therapeutic tool for positive change, aiming to empower, not control.
@Dru-DruDaya9 күн бұрын
@@MikeMandelHypnosis if that’s true, why would anyone raise the question of banning it?
@Dru-DruDaya9 күн бұрын
@@rosegalbraith1821 They can’t make you do something you don’t want to do but they can frame something you don’t want to do in such a way that you think you want to do it. Pretending that can’t happen is just not responsible.
@MikeMandelHypnosis2 күн бұрын
I agree that framing can be powerful, and it's true that our perceptions can be influenced in ways we might not immediately realize. However, it’s important to remember that hypnosis is about collaboration, not control. A skilled hypnotist helps guide someone toward choices they already want to make, rather than manipulating them into something they don’t want. The goal is empowerment, not coercion.

Just another thought: If a therapist puts me into a trance and double-binds me, I know exactly what he's doing, but it works anyway! It works because I'm playing along because I know it's for my own good. So I'm perfectly aware of what he's doing, but it works anyway.
@MikeMandelHypnosis9 күн бұрын
Exactly! When you're aware of the technique and still play along, it shows how powerful the mind is. Even knowing what's happening, you're allowing it because you trust the process-and that trust makes it work! The conscious mind can be a great ally when it’s aligned with your goals.
