If your music is trash you get no radio/commercial plays that would bring people to your music content. You better off making good music look at Kendrick 5 albums 14 years the Biggest.

Because the record companies put the rappers in MASSIVE debt and own all the catalogs on top of everything. The artist only made income off the shows. The tine you payout for the help. Your income is small. Today we have. ....the internet to promote music.

Cause they didn't drop albums often..they drop something,then come back 2 or 3yrs before the NXT one
@marx41mans7 сағат бұрын
Because it required heavy PHYSICAL distrobution! There was no internet downloads, streaming, social media, etc to cut record labels out back then like there is now. Record labels and entertainment compaines had vise-grip control ove the whole induatry, you basically couldnt do anything in music with their green lighting you and provinding you with a budget...and DON'T forget there was a time when the "home studio" or budget recording spot didnt exist...it took crszy amounts of financial investments to record music back then, there wasnt no DAW's, Fruityloops, and endless plugins, technology got eay better and that ALSO opened things up for artists to do more on their own. Your question has way more complicated answers, but in a nutshell...its easier to create music now, easier to find listeners, easier to promote YOURSELF in today's world! Those 3 things right there are what past artist needed record labels for, for the most part in the "internet age" of entertainment, especially music...the big companies are needed as much anymore.

Its harder this way. It like he said, it takes years to get to where you wanna be. The short cut is the label but short cuts are expensive. It's like real estate. You could save up the money and buy it yourself or you could build up the credit and borrow the money. One way is faster but you'll always owe the bank
