Honestly you're not wrong, I just recall that DLC is eligible for GotY. In the end, I have such an opinion because my opinion of things like GotY is so low. I don't care much for the institution that "votes" for these things to begin with, as I've never used it as a measure to buy or not buy a game, and have seen some pretty boring games (by my opinion of course) win that title. So for me, this was very much a throw-away comment since I could care less what wins. On the Elden Ring front however, yeah, I do wish I could just enter the DLC, as it's so good but takes so long to reach it. However, I have a mod that allows me to do that now, and I love it <3

GoTY not only grants fame and notoriety, but also extra funding to the dev/s behind the game for future projects (and, even subtly, influence the direction/s the industry might take). And all the voting being pretty much all 'in house' by industry people. For the last decade or so it's all seemed like that meme of 'awards self a medal'.

What irked me was TGA said player votes accounted for only 10% of the weight. 90% of the vote was their paid sponsers from random companies completely uninvolved in the gaming industry. So in the end the only real award that has any value was "players voice" award... which went to Black Myth Wukong. The rest was decided by non-gamers.

It's more of a "story momentum" issue, as like *big reveal of the final dungeon* then game wants you to just ignore it. Mood thing for me.

Idk if Rab is any good with claws, but I love the idea of Jade using them. However, I could see a switch to her with spears and Rab to claws, thus preserving MP, but he does more damage with magic if he has a wand, so I need to see how I wish to use him.

@@Soulkrist17 Well I never used Jade with claws, but considering she is primarily a physical attacker I think it is safe to say she outdoes Rab from a damage perspective with claws. But most people like me stick Jade with spears to make her our early and mid-game Metal Slime Killer. Of course you get an even better Metal Slime Killer later so it isn't necessary. Truth be told you already have them but well spoliers so 🤫. When it comes to Rab I kinda look at it like this: He's not going to outdo Veronica in Magical Might since she is our dedicated Black Mage and he won't be able to Heal as much HP as Serena does with the same spell since Magical Mending is all she has going for her for most of the game. But he can hit harder and tank better than either and is more versatile in spells at the cost of being slightly less effective using the same spells but on the plus side you won't have to have two squishy wizards in your line up so claws seem the natural way to go to capitalize on his physical aspects. That said I am pretty sure he can absorb MP with Heavy Staffs too so he'll recover MP either way but won't hit as hard physically as he would with claws. But honestly there are no wrong answers. Especially in this case since Rab like Veronica and Serena learn his best stuff by level up and his best branch is Enlightenment. Same with Jade, people will go Spears vs Claws but honestly I think her best branch from a damage output perspective is Fisticuffs but from a cultured perspective it is definitely Allure. Anyway what I am trying to say is do what is the most fun for you ^^. And if you hit a snag or get bored you can always reset or level up.

Oh I didn't realize they were not story party members, that's a little unfortunate but I get it for the time, to focus on the MC.

@@Joe50639 I miss the darker aspects of SH1 tbh. I didn't like the whole heading towards a more comical approach especially since most of the comedy is stuff like this that just isn't funny to me. However with that said, I still actually enjoyed SH2 and SH3 despite this. But SH1 will always be my favorite of the trilogy.

One of FF9's sidequests literally requires you to backtrack from the final dungeon after every single mini-boss section. So you're leaving and returning a total of like 8 times.

I don't recall doing this though. I know I left a few times, but I thought I also just pushed through bosses before backtracking. Not saying it makes it okay, but I mean both of our current side quests that require the final dungeon entry are like "Okay, start this and do 95%....then stop for no real reason." just feels weird and disjointed.

Not being able to complete this quest just yet, along with the other one with Karin, etc... is why I usually just wait till later in the story to do them when they can actually be completed.

@@Koby411 I went there because the two places are connected and I didn't notice anyone different in Cannes during my first (swift) look around. As for the math, yeah, simple but timers and recordings get me.

@Koby411 that's fair, I just don't like that they force momentum break once the final dungeon is revealed. Story wise, that's what I will want to do at that point, not side quests, so hurts the experience for me a little.

@@Soulkrist17 Fair. Though you can also go directly to the Island via the map without using the boat in Cannes as well.

@@Soulkrist17 I agree that it'd have been much better to spread out these sidequests through the game or allow some of them to be completed a bit earlier... but given what most of them give you for doing them I guess they wanted to save that for the end. idk why they require actually visiting and leaving the final dungeon though. Should allow you to go do them without having to visit the place first.
