Hi Jody.... hoping I can ask you a question. I did your decopage with iron technique. I was doing it on a smooth board and design was paper. Design went on smooth. Looked fabulous. Several days later, I used Dixey Bell clear top coat on top. It's very similar to Mod Poge. Immediately, my paper design started to bubble up. That really surprized me since it looked quite glued down. Do you have any ideas why that happen? I had trouble smoothing it out. It was a lost project. Thoughts? Molly G

@@mollygruse7134 Hi Molly, I don’t use paper very often but recently I was making gift tags using wood cut outs and card stock. On the first one I made, after it was dry, I put another coat of mod podge on top and same thing happened to me. After that, I didn’t top coat them and have had no problem. Now, once they dry, I just file around the edges to get the excess paper off. I know it’s not the same as your project but I hope it helps. Thanks so much for watching 😊

I tried this method but the napkin lifted when I coated it with mod podge about 5 minutes after ironing the napkins. I’m sorry that happened to you. My guess is that too much mod podge was used. After ironing, I basically do the edges to make sure they are secure and a very thin coat on top. You can try ironing it again. If that doesn’t work, since it hasn’t cured yet, run the tile under water to remove the napkin. I hope this helps. Thanks so much for watching 😊

Canvas is fine to use the iron on method. I have a video using 4x4 canvases if you want to check that out. You can decoupage foam board but I wouldn’t use an iron. Coat the foam board with mod podge, either the whole thing or you could work in sections. Lay your napkin down then use either Saran Wrap or a baggie to smooth any wrinkles. I prefer the baggie. I put my hand inside and gently smooth the wrinkles out. I hope this helps. Good luck on your project. Thanks so much for watching 😊
