What a beautiful series 1. I wonder though if it is loved more for it's performance rather than the other fantastic features that William Lyons strived so hard to acheive. After all he did say it was the best car he ever made. And he kept his own original series 1 as his every day driver. I had one of these in the 70's and I still remember how outstanding it was. It was as smooth and as quiet as a Rolls Royce Shadow, and just floated along the highway with a combination of true luxury and a sportiness, that was way above any other car of it's time.

Completely impractical. Dangerous as hell. Always uncomfortable with wind buffering most parts scrounged from unusual sources. Like the windshield from the Volkswagen bug or the fenders from Harley Davidson. Everything mechanical from Ford. Not appreciating for some reason at all. So why, pray tell, why do I want one so badly?

Need to fit the UK-spec pie-plates. I hate the all-red taillamps on US-spec British cars. I always switch my British cars to the UK-spec. Prettier and safer/more visible.
