I don’t know. When filming in Firestone Colorado next to the interstate going around turn two the boats look like they are at least as fast as the traffic.

There are two wires stretching across to the middle of the oval that catch the signal from the boat’s transponder. They are hard to see in most of the videos. The wires are about straight out from where they are launching the boat’s approximately 2 feet above the water.

Yes I seem to sometimes shoot a lot of close ups and others times I stay wide angle so more boats are in the shot.

Awful noise. Why not go electric? How does the performance compare at that level? All fast cars are electric so I imagine they're faster than their noisy counterparts?

Perhaps they will someday. District 20 runs some electric classes of boats. They have been racing RC boats for several decades. Electric motors for RCs weren’t available when they started.

Impressive speeds! I lived in La Puente in the 60s n 70s. My folks used to take us kids to legg lake often. Great fun back then! I used to fly control line and RC model airplanes just across the 60 fwy. At Whittier narrows flying field.

The water got pretty rough it makes racing more challenging. The National Race will be held at this lake in September. I am looking forward to being they to film it. I got home today from filming races at Firestone Colorado. I plan to head to El Monte California on Thursday for another race.

These Hydros are kinda interesting , any idea what the hull is ?Come on guys that ran the heat, answers on a postcard too old guy in the UK that did it back in the 80'S ( or answer my U tube clip, 4s rigger using HK running gear )

I don’t know too much about the boats hulls. I noticed that at Firestone yesterday during the laps leading up to mill I find myself following the boat that ends up winning. I think it is just a coincidence or intuition. I don’t have any insider information. Lol

That was fun to watch and brought back many memories of racing a deep vee 40 Dumas fiberglass with an OS40 engine, back in the mid 70's. We raced in Dallas and Phoenix and had a lake to practice on in El Paso, Texas.
