Yes, I've found Kato engines are better runners than almost all others in HO or N scales. Have fun.

Awesome, Alan. I'm looking forward to see it with the truck. Is there a reason you don't use an accelerator with the super glue? I've never used one myself so I don't know much about them.

Good job with this! We stumbled upon this display while waiting to board the train and were amazed that we knew nothing about it being there! These models are always much better when they actually recreate some local area specifics and the stories that go with them! Very cool and a hidden gem.

Great job on a difficult kit. I'll throw my 2 cents in and say I remember having the same problems. Not even mentioning the difficult mirrors on the doors. But it looks good on the shelf, and I have the exact auto carrier sitting behind it as you do. Keep up the good work!

Is there a way to poke through the firewall without having to remove the battery
@alanwbelcher Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching my video. Short answer is no. The rubber grommet I went through was low & easy to find inside the car. I'd be concerned something higher could run into some important dash wiring and/or be difficult to find up behind the dash. Good luck! Report back if you find a better way, please.

Hey, great video! I've read a lot of discussions on forums and finally found a definitive answer. I planned on getting some 9-5 Aero seats and putting them into my 9-3. Do you think there is anything different with Aero seats and can I swap the seat back as well? There is not much information on this on the internet and I don't want to end up buying 2 seats for nothing.
@alanwbelcher Жыл бұрын
Sorry, I just found your question. The only thing that kept me from using the seat back was the fact that this is a 2-door, so you need the folding mechanism. If you have a 4-door I don't think it will be a problem, but if you have a 2-door or convertible then you won't be able to get to the back seat.

Very Nice! Always impressed with the MEC SW's... From Mountain Subdivision helper service (unusual assignment for a 'switch' engine), to their final hurrah, running paper mill trains to Bucksport, these EMD's proved their utility, and versatility, time and time again.

Nice paint, love your 2-tone work and foiling details on the body. The thing that caused most of the fitment issues stems from the source of the kit itself: beware of swap meet kits! This 58, you built with the chassis plate from the AMT '59 El Camino, and while they are similar, they are not the same. Did you stick the '58 chassis under your El Camino? Or did the seller pack 2 Elky chassis in the box accidentally? The giveaway is the fuel tank; station wagons and El Caminos share the curved tank as seen here. On a wagon the curve is to clear a spare tire well. Your front suspension is just a bunch of parts from both kits; I've never seen any problems with wheel alignment or tir-rod issues like you experienced here! You did good with what you had, for sure. You owe it to yourself to build a NEW, or at least unmolested copy of the '58. I'd love to see what you can do with it properly outfitted! It really is a decent kit.
@alanwbelcher2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your words of encouragement. The previous owner had just thrown 2 kits into one box, so I don't know if it has the right chassis. I have another of these in my stash, so maybe some day.....
@scottwoodward38542 жыл бұрын
Use hodgepodge for gluing your windows into place on your model it's like Elmer's glue and it dries clear I don't understand why you assembled the chassis the front suspension and the rear suspension without painting everything individually and then glueing everything together on the chassis I like the color combination on the body but I don't like the turquoise color for the interior I mean it looks great but I would have gone yellow and white for the interior before painting the body test fit everything to make sure everything is fit properly and your suspension chassis the way it's supposed to sit and then paint the body because you're always handling the body to test fit and I always do it last but anyway have a great weekend keep on building and having fun
