I used to listen to giantbomb all the time. I had the same experience where they basically didn't have opinions anywhere close to mine. I realized that unless is was a game based on older design (deadcells for example) or if it was universally loved (red dead 2 at the time) then they hated it. It was just so dumb so I decided to stop listening. Also they totally spoiled the story to red dead 2 with no warning and it was just a few days old, I will never forgive them.

For the last little while the Xbox copy has been my go-to, mainly because I have an Xbox One X and in cases where it has an enhancement patch, it will be better than what I can run on my base PS4. But unfortunately in some cases, there are games that never got an enhancement patch and are much worse even on the Xbox One X with the extra power than it would be on a base PS4. With my plan to buy a PS5 soon, I've been leaning more towards getting PS4 copies both because of the PS5 enhancement patches and because of the many games that had PS4 Pro patches/versions and run at their best on the PS5. I might end up just buying a regular PS5 and then a cheap used Series X eventually to get the best of both worlds and to get a bit more out of my old Xbox One copies, whether they are enhanced for Xbox One X already or not. I agree with you that it seems like most games will have sold more on PS than Xbox, especially niche/JRPG games, so that's another reason I've liked having copies for Xbox instead of PS, even if I don't ever really intend to sell my copies anyway.

The only thing to do is buy a factory sealed game, grade it, then send it into the museum 🤣

My take on it this; I do regret it from a financial POV, as many of the games I sold as a teenager were sold cheap and have increased in value quite a bit. However, on the flip side, I just see the whole process as part of growing up. At the time I was more interested in buying clothes and just interested in other aspects of life. And in time I have come back around and I have also re-purchased a good chunk of the games I really enjoyed.

This point you made about having to partially download games is interesting - it reminded me of the recent ps5 pro no drive fiasco. It seems people mad about Sony phasing out physical have conveniently ignored this issue. Many many many games do not fit on PS discs either. There is, in my opinion, not much point collecting physical in the current gen.

2TB of storage & higher frame rates is the reason I would warrant obtaining one.

The last AAA game I bought was Cold War From 2006-2024 I’ve played older games from about 2012 and before especially simulators Tf2 despite its flaws I’ve played for many hours 5500+ Darkest hour Europe 44-45 is probably my favorite hardcore shooter/sim Il-2 1946 with some modifications is the only flight sim I’ve loved it hits a sweet spot between complex and get on and take off In 30 seconds Project reality another hardcore shooter Steel fury Kharkov 1942 my favorite tank sim very easy to just relax and play I haven’t touched consoles since 2016 I remember when I picked PlayStation over Xbox because online was free even for the ps4 when it came out I’d sit and play destiny 1 for hours and it probably is my 2nd most played game in terms of hours (yes I know it was very flawed but tbh everything bungie did after their split from Microsoft went downhill after the people who made bungie into what it was quit during its development) There’s just something about older sims and games they got right so many little details and love put into them vs modern games
