Your oversaturated color, your overexposed lighting, your love for a specific palm tree, that is obviously a result of erosion, fine, fine, and fine. But Hemingway you are not. Your wistful opining, to the point of a kid asking YOU what is past space? Come on. If this is your true personality, then I understand why you sail alone. Try and dial it back enough that someone wouldn't put you in for a three day mandatory hospital stay.

When you get the perfect amount of wind cork that coconut to trap it. Also just a small bit of line helps losing tools to the bilge or the deep.. good luck

You could narrate a trip to the supermarket and make it sound a magical experience.. The red light of night makes a different Olivia and lets the day Olivia sleep, two captains. Watch out for the shark with the devious smile.

I know nothing about this stuff, but had an idea that you could paint the flare gun silver, make it more of a visual deterrent? Or a fake but real looking gun? A ready-to-go Molotov cocktail wasn’t a bad idea either, but at that point they are coming to your boat if you destroy theirs. Hoping you stay safe and quickly move on to safer waters.

Found your comments about singlehanded night sailing in Indonesia interesting since I'm likely to be doing that soon on a similar sized boat. Scoped Indo a bit earlier this year. Given the local issues, thought maybe best on many nights to just stop/drift/slow walk/heave to with the boat well lit up, while while getting rest. Then make miles in daylight hrs. Thoughts/suggestions on that strategy? Singlehanding can be super rewarding, and obviously super challenging. Congrats on your fortitude keeping at it!
@wildernessofwaves15 күн бұрын
Yea some nights I would heave to or drop and drift, depending on the wind. But some nights you can't, you need maneuverability because there are boats or objects or oil rigs all around. Also when you do slow the boat, still make sure to keep a watch just in case. The waters are very action packed! But Indonesia is amazing!
@flyinggybe211315 күн бұрын
Yeah, Indonesia is awesome. After scoping, decided worth the extra sailing challenges. Was thruhull clogging from plastics contributing to your engine overheating problems? Sadly, that looked like a substantial risk there.

Most people remove the bungs and screws first before tearing up the teak.
@wildernessofwaves17 күн бұрын
I did do that, I replaced every single bung and screw and all of the caulking before going to Hawaii. I had an electrical fire on the way from Hawaii to French Polynesia, I called Bob Perry (boat designer and teacher of the man who designed my boat) and Bob said I need to remove the decks.
@wildernessofwaves17 күн бұрын
I explained calling Bob Perry in the video too

It was good to hear an update of your travels since your last KZbin video, from someone who doesn't go on instagram. I'm glad you realise that letting others influence your decisions at sea is likely to lead to trouble. Some interesting discussion about fear. I feel caution and exhilaration but not fear, after many years of sailing, fear only once when there was an UFO overhead, really! Good luck with your onward travels and GGR, now that's another level.

I have been subscribed to wildernessofthewaves for quite awhile and I enjoy all the episodes and information I have learned to apply to my own future adventures. I have been on anchor here in Sinclair Inlet Washington State, working on my Cheoy Lee Offshore 27 sailboat project. I have my Coronado 25 sailboat tied alongside. I am going to transfer all my possessions and items I have put into the Coronado 25 into the Cheoy Lee Offshore 27. I endure alot of rain and high winds here in Sinclair Inlet, but I continue to make progress on my sailboat.

I'm so excited for you and your Cheoy Lee! Can't imagine trying to get work done in those conditions! Godspeed and excited to see you on the high seas!
