Huh, This version of the 1st episode has a different, more plump, actress playing the role of Willow!

This show somehow seems even more 90s than the one that aired.

This was a fun watch.

You can stake me if you want to but I kinda like this a bit better in some ways. I thought the actual pilot was slow and ironically too long. Even the actress playing Willow ate for me.

I just finished season 7 and feels weird to rewind from the beginning-beginning.

I like this version. Getting to know people is always a good origin. How it all started, that's how many shows start.

If it wasn’t for Willow being the wrong actress I wouldn’t even be able to tell this was an unaired pilot.

I’m a huge Buffy fan, and hadn’t watched this for a long time. This time around I realised, there’s a lot of stuff in here I prefer to the actual pilot episode(s). Things I preferred: - Some of the dialogue (it’s crazy some of this got taken out or changed) - The Library set and Buffy’s acrobatic flip over that staircase - Principal Flutie - Xander and Willow sans Jesse seem tighter than they do in the actual pilot (though that changes by episode 3) - The whole library scene where she first meets Giles is better - The scene where she says she doesn’t care is better

Thank god they got rid of that Willow. That actress sucked.

WOW Darla looked so different in the pilot, obviously her unmistakable voice gave it away first. I’ve got to admit, even though I’m an OG Buffy & Angel fan (watched both series when they originally aired) it was ONLY approx 10 years, I realised it WAS Darla in the pilot. The 1st female we see with the lad, breaking into the school. I think it was only a year before the series actually aired the pilot was filmed, but she looked so different

Weird…I didn’t think that Willow was originally intended to be a 40 something single mom.

This is pretty awesome ! I'm loving the snarky dialogue in this pilot - seems they dialed that back a bit for the actual show. This was so fun to watch, thanks for sharing it !

Nevermind it’s someone called riff Reagan but she looks just like Melanie. But I guess it was Riff bc her look, bc the role was written for Melanie

That’s Melanie Lynskey from yellow jackets as willow. I read the role was actually written for her but she passed on it bc she hadn’t done much TV

I am happy they added Joyce into the series, as well as Angel. And I am really happy they redid the library set.

The pilot that was used is exponentially better!

No offense to the original actor, but they made the right decision in recasting Willow. I can’t imagine anyone else playing her.

We can't Imagine willow without alyson because we only saw alyson playing willow.

It’s crazy how iconic the library is in the show when the one here just feels so wrong. Also I just realized, I think the library in this episode was repurposed to be the bronze, same staircase

It sort of feels like watching a school production of BTVS

I like this version. They didn't keep much of it for the actual pilot, but the concept. The actress playing Willow did a good job playing nerdy and unpopular and may have developed with the character. Allyson Hannigan was a good choice, but who knows. I still watch the show ...

With all the necessary physicality in the show,it was understandable that a principal character like willow would need to be physically fit.being noticeably overweight would be detriment to that,potentially life threatening in a place like Sunnydale.that's a given.

I'm 48 and I've only ever watched a few minutes of Buffy the Vampire slayer. I spent that time period watching Animal Planet and Discovery Health.

if its unaired how do you have it considering it needed to be recorded on a vcr before hand then moved to other forms to eventually make its way on the net for you to find and download and share
