Wait...that's not the Helen Hayes I was looking for! Sounds like Vicki Lawrence singing a 2% milk version of "Lady Marmalade".

I love this Helen Hayes. Sultry, sleazy, unrepentant. Excellent horns and she has a beautiful smoky, silver voice. Bless her heart and CPUs.

What made you post my uncle's song? His brother, my Uncle Jim, is his backup, btw. And have you heard Ole Black Lung? He wrote that one.

My mom and dad and all of us kids would go see the Senn Family in Central Florida back in the late 60's and very early 70s, there was Beverly, and Carol Senn. Zronnie Rowan, his sister on the piano, Billy Tweet on bass guitar and Billy Carol on lead guitar for years.

Maesal was my guitar teacher. I took lessons from him every week for years. I had no idea he had recorded an album, then I found this one day at a local thrift store and my mind was blown. This was after his passing, but it sits proudly in my collection. Apart from teaching guitar, Maesal was also a renowned Elvis impersonator. RIP.

Not real hip on the singing, but the song itself, the cord progressions, and even the progressions of the singing, pretty damn good song. Reminds me of something the Alan Parsons project might do in the mid 70s. Maybe a mesh of Alan Parsons and ambrosia.

Sounds like the kind of music that was produced on a local label here in the metro Detroit/ Flint area, "Old Homestead" Records ran by John Morris. He produced a lot of local talent back in the early 60s onward. Had a radio show on sunday night from 6PM to midnight playing bluegrass and old time country. Good song. Fits the era really well. I dig it.
