Based on your measurements, is it roughly a 1 to 3 ratio based on weight? You said 8.6 ounces powder to 3 ounces of water? So it’s not a ratio based on volume say quarter cup water to quarter cup cement?

It’s by weight, that’s very important. There are mixing instructions that come with ultracal.

Awesome video. Do you seal them before painting and what kind of paint do you suggest? I would love to see more of your creation videos. I do understand videos are a PIA to make so i do understand if you dont want to post more.i

I do not generally seal any of my work before painting. I just base coat. Yes the videos are very time consuming! I got too busy last year and instead invest my time into the painting itself. That could change though!

Hi there, I'm not sure if I'm understanding your question. Assuming it's in regard to the ratio of powder and water, it all goes by weight. Ultracal 30 comes with instructions on the ratio to use. I generally figure out how many items I plan to pour, and make a guess as to how much mix I need to prepare. From that point I calculate the water to powder amounts by weight and weight it out on a scale. For one regular sized Happy Dotting Company mandala stone, the ratio is 3.35 oz of water and 8.85 oz of powder. Although I do tend to round up a little on the powder. I try to guesstimate how many stones' worth of castings I'm making and multiply the ratio by that many. I hope this is helpful and not confusing!

Please help how to fill holes and sand. What do use to fill and sand

Hi there, I use DryDex spackle to fill the holes, and then just regular sandpaper or a sanding brick to smooth it out afterward. I recommend wearing a tight fitting mask any time you are sanding castings, as the dust isn't good to breathe.

Thank you! This video really helped. I’ve been using UltraCal with mixed results. Their 100/38 ratio doesn’t work for me, I end up going by instinct. Thanks for mentioning Devon Moulds, I haven’t heard of them and will check them out.
