The Orthodox venerate Our Lady of Guadalupe? I thought only Roman Catholics and eastern Catholics did
@philipg77373 ай бұрын
@@San-rx9khfirst, I have seen a shrine to OLoG in an Orthodox Monastery. Second, this is from a Liturgy in a borrowed space, that is, a chapel belonging to Roman Catholics. And third, this video is of Eastern Catholics.

This is strange : the priest, though a Ukrainian Catholic, is wearing a Russian-style phelonion. Great Divine Liturgy !
@philipg77375 жыл бұрын
@BuckDanny2314 Yes, because it is beautiful! We are not alone in this: there are a number of Ruthenian Greek-Catholic priests in the US who wear high-backs, as well as at St Elias Ukrainian GC parish in Brampton, Ontario. There is some evidence that this cut of phelonion is actually older than the "Greek-style." For example, they wear them on Mount Athos!

@@philipg7737 Thank you for this answer. I do not in the least resent the use of "high-backs", on the contrary, I find them very beautiful. But in my mind, they were associated with "Russian" Liturgy, and their presence in this "Ukrainian" Liturgy was a bit surprising for me. Anyway, thank you very much for taking the time to answer me, as well as for the historical information about those phelonions.

Do you celebrate the Easter Vigil on Sunday morning or Sunday afternoon.
@philipg77376 жыл бұрын
Saturday evening, so that it is dark about half way through. Then we have the Liturgy if Pascha very early Sunday morning
@BuckDanny23146 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry, I meant Saturday evening of afternoon. That is great ! Most Byzantine parishes around the world (whether Catholic or Eastern Orthodox) celebrate the Easter Vigil on Saturday morning, just like the Latins (which, in my opinion, is not such a great thing). To celebrate it on Saturday evening is much better. Congratulations ! Plus, the Divine Liturgy of saint Basil is beautiful.
