the work on this soundtrack is so ambitious, "going loud" is amazing, "spotted" fantastic, "cloak and dagger" give me goosebumps...I didn't know you but now i want to play all games you worked on 🤩

Curious to know, were you thinking of the synth in _The Persuaders_ tv show theme tune when you wrote this? It's very reminiscent. The beautifuilly modulating bell-like arpeggiator makes it very different and more like modern eletronica ofc. One of the best tracks in the OST for my money - epic and elegaic all at once, reminiscent of a noir 80s Berlin :)

never gets old to see. I kinda wanna be part of a recording session at some point. I'd imagine it's just a different atmosphere and skillset than live audience. When I was miced up it has always been for for a speaker setup, so a bit less stress than having my breathing eternalized in a recording :D

This makes me think of some genius mastermind who uses their intelligence and knowledge of the future to forge a man into a weapon against fate itself. I dunno what about it *specifically* but its just a weird feeling I get from it.

I can understand why Cassie is inspired in this song. The short duration and the rising momentum until a sudden cut fit her character in Forgotten Shore so well. It shows how the character that was 'low' continued to rise and gain confidence, but then, it all comes to an end. Toyed by fate, betrayed her friend and doomed her savior. It's really a "Song of the fallen", herself included

For as adrenaline pumping and badass as this track is, there's an undercurrent of tragedy to it especially when the strings kick in at 1:30. Lasers light the air and autocannons fly as metal titans clash, but there are scared desperate people inside of them fighting to see another day.

The voices in these musics are magical (at the begin of "Ambush" too) and give thefeeling that there is a colossal religious side in this fantasy world. Bravo, Jon Everist.

The cyclical tragedy and triumph of thousands of years of recorded human history condensed into a roughly 4 and a half minute arrangement. To call it beautiful doesn't do it justice.

While this game's soundtrack often stopped me in my tracks, I think this is the single song that most often made me stop, fold my head in my hands, and just... Feel. Staring out at the expanse of space aboard the Argo, thinking about the senseless tragedy of it all, the weight of my decisions, the value of life. I don't know if I can think of a soundtrack that so deftly sculpts the world of the game as Battletech's does. I don't know if you'll ever see this, Jon, but thank you.

@@JonEveristMusic oh, wow! Was just finishing up a re-listen of the soundtrack today, having a good cry (among others, Umbra, Wolf at the Door, Past as Prologue, and The Vast Expanse got me, as they always do), and came back to see that you've commented. What a lovely surprise! You're truly an exemplary artist; looking forward to whatever you're working on next!

Hi Jon, I regularly listen to the track 48 "Finale", and even now it still has the power to bring me to tears, especially when coupled with the narration by the narrator/voice actor for Kamea Arano, Gin Hammond. Thank you again for composing such a beautiful piece.

When this played during Santiago and Victoria's argument in the final battle, I really felt the culmination of everything that the game had taught us, and Kamea along the way And it really does reveal that Santiago is genuine when he says he staged the coup for the good of the Reach and it's People, seeing the declining state of the Aurigan Reach under the complacent Aranos and Founding Houses, seeing that a change was NEEDED for the survival of the nation, and being willing to become the Monster needed to make the hard decisions for the betterment of it's people But of course, his methods earned him too many enemies, and his biggest mistake? Not making sure his Niece was dead, with Kamea alive, he would always have a challenger, but the Founding Houses or someone else would've stood up and crumbled the Directorate in a civil war that claimed all of Aurigan's resources anyways with the way that Santiago was handling things And yknow what I think he already knew that, and made peace with those demons, which was why he surrendered in the first place. He knew that the Reach would crumble anyways, either from his actions, or Kamea's, if he believed he could truely save the Reach by winning the war, he wouldn't have given up considering that was his goal, save the Aurigan Reach...

Just a thief hiding in shadows is all they ever said. Not a single one asked why or how long. To them he had no future, no past. His voice was silent as he knew they would only think his words where only lies. His scars hidden as they would not believe where they came from. Not a man. Not a human... Just a thief.

went and found this exact tract, after hearing it in the memorial hall during the final flashpoint encounter with the bounty hunter and black widows Behemoth, as per usual, in her custom zues, was up front, doing stability damage, taking the hits her lance couldnt afford to and despite this being a 4v4v4, both enemy lances just pummeled her into the dust ( one of the mechs literally has a quirck that bypasses all armor ) first her LBX10 + torso then her LRM10 + torso and lasers taking more and more pilot injuries each time and on the 2nd last round, she was cored by the rifleman she was with me from the very start, was on almost every mission when she wasnt in the medbay was on every story mission and every high tier flashpoint always stood firm against enemy fire, rarely got knocked down but facing up against one of the most powerful mercs was just one step to far shes gone now from day 0 to 3699 brave, criminal, dependable, inner sphere, jinxed, lyran, military, spacer gladiator 75 deployments, 17 injuries taken, 99 mech kills, 45 vehicle kills, 0 ejections
