Nice, sometimes im that lazy, that i consider mounting a Bathinov mask on that the ALTO on this dovetail bar which i all dont own yet :P. But a part of the mask would be covered by the ALTO bracket, also i would have to make a handmade adapter, need to do some testing first by obstructing a bahtinow mask from the side and see if it changes the result.

Hi Filippo - would you be able to provide part numbers for the various adapters to get to the point where I have 55mm (56.2mm for normal Takahashi) remaining backfocus (so I can then install the usual EFW+OAG+camera)? Maybe using the ZWO EFW/OAG and 2600MM as a baseline? I feel a lot of people have this exact setup and this video isn't quite specific enough in that you just mention a locking ring, but not dimensions. Many thx!

How is it the camera is not screwed to some adapter? That is a serious design flaw, especially for remote. Lastly, is there space for a dew heater strap under the dovetail bar?
@Primalucelab2 ай бұрын
No it’s not a design flaw, the camera was inserted in a rotating lock adapter after the corrector (so there are no locking screws in this adapter). In fact in the second part of the video you can see I’m keeping the entire telescope in my hands and the camera doesn’t disconnect. Yes already with this configuration there is some space for dew heater strap but, if you need more, you can just add the 10mm spacers PLLSPES10 between support rings and 350mm dovetail bar above the telescope. Play is good, but it is Yet Another Piece of Software. I use mine through ASCOM in NINA as part of my standard workflow. Every night, after the last target, it closes the cover, parks the scope, and takes flats. Works really well.

Hello! We haven't an iOptron mount to directly test but PLAY supports control of mounts through the ASCOM interface so, if the mount comes with an ASCOM driver compatible with latest platform (actually 6.6), it should work just fine with PLAY.

Why was this observatory set up facing north, with trees and a house to the south?
@Primalucelab4 ай бұрын
Not really, the Library building it to the East of the Observatory position. The trees and building blocks the East horizon starting around 40 degrees elevation so it’s not a big limitation. In any case this is the space available for the Library and, for educational and outreach activities, sometimes it’s better to have it in an easy to reach and control place.
@miguelmorales96674 ай бұрын
The observatory looks pretty nice, but the rest looks to be underwhelming and/or unplanned. I hope that there are many equipment upgrades in the works, but please don't cut down the trees, move the observatory to a more appropriate location instead.

Keep in mind most of the cables you work with (a) come in multiple lengths or (b) can easily be re-terminated at will-most of these cables are custom-made by the equipment manufacturers for their most common customer use cases and only come in one length.
