I have watched your videos over the years. Bought our Argo 100’s May2017, and still have not made any of the mods you show here. Were you happy with them all? Did you have any issues? What would you have done/placed differently?

@@miamcarlisle432 the only thing I would have done differently is used track exclusively up front instead of the Scotty mounts. The track was newer when I started, but now there’s lots of options and a lot more accessories.

You know, maybe a Böker Kalashnikov OTF or Cobratech OTF can introduce a lot of people to the OTF market, with very good quality. Microtech may be good, but NOT THAT Good. It takes its merit from its name mainly. It would be nice to have a comparison video in real life, what Big difference there is in terms of usage....

weight can definitely by a factor on it's use. Ive used rod holders, garmin, camera, and the table in the video and they all did fine, but it can also depend on the base that you're using, what the base it attached to and how it is attached, and the weight of the item you're using my garmin is the striker model that people tend to use on smaller paddle craft and on jon boats but there are a lot of variables that can make or break it for each person

I've got a couple Cobratech OTF knives. I wouldn't call them Microtech killers but they are a nice budget option for those looking for a nice OTF but don't want to pay Microtech prices. Yes, you do get what you pay for but these are nicely built and cut pretty well right out of the box. Hard to beat them at their price point.
@Patrick2345454
@Patrick2345454 Жыл бұрын
Cobratec is not made from US manufactured parts. They take great pains to omit the fact that their parts are from overseas. I wouldn't mind a Chinese made knife, except that i had to do some research to uncover this (after id already made a purchase). They are also a direct rip-off of Microtech knives, and I actually feel kinda dirty for even owning one now.
@andrashavas
@andrashavas 8 ай бұрын
I had a few Chinese ripoff knives. At first I felt a bit bad. Then I understood that this is a product for a price. And understood that if I wanted the best of the best, then I would have to pay an unreasonable premium. The Chinese did a good job and I am very happy with those. All this overseas crap is just that. crap. Meaning that it is a marketing ploy to make you buy $$$$. This is like a pyramid. For 10% extra you pay 2x more. For 20% extra you pay 5x more... Don't forget that if you like the current knife, use it, be happy with it. Remember Strider? All that rant on their folders. Yet the locking bar does not have an adjustable shoe, but titanium matches metal, meaning that it will wear out... Yet many Italian framelock folders have that feature already. So you buy a novelty, which is double price of something offering almost the same function which, if you use the "regular" knife it will be good enough for 99% of users. At the end of the day the premium knife will not be better. Why? Because you will not want to use it. You will just have the feeling that this is the best. Sure. Limited edition to how many pieces? I got a Cold Steel signature edition knife limited to 2000 pieces. You can find these in every online store. Is it usable? No. Is it limited? not really. So you pay the premium for an illusion that is so relative.... You are part of a club of elite persons? Sure. Just before you buy a Microtech Mandalorian or whatever, just ask yourself. Is it THAT GOOD that it is worth the price of a premium fixed blade knife? At the end of the day, buy an EDC knife, and then if you still want it, buy the elite knife and put it into the drawer.

I was able to compare a couple of Cobratec OTFs side by side with Microtech OTFs. Honestly, the action on the Cobratecs were better and at half the price. Don't get me wrong, many of the Microtechs (not all of them) have higher grade materials, but for what they are, I preferred the Cobratecs. If you are looking for a safe queen, the Microtechs are great. If you actually want a user that you don't mind scratching or using for moderate tasks, the Cobratecs were actually better.

We still live in a global marketplace. If you follow the supplier trail most knife parts originate in Asia. China specifically. Even vaunted Microtech and benchmade. They just hide behind multiple supplier steps. The real question though is how well inspected and verified the steel is regardless of origin. Go ahead and hate but deep down you know it is true

That looks a lot like a Lightning knife you can get at Grindworx for about $30. Microtech uses Elmax or M390, steels in a whole different world than this one. You would need to show a lot more to convince me this is a Microtech killer. These knives do fill a niche. I have a Lightning OTF I really like for fiddling and small cutting tasks.

Its not everyday most of us need to connect positive and negatives to batteries. The two extra wires I assume are for other equipment from Garmin. I will be wiring up a FF for the first time in a couple of months and its useful to see what the set up is. Good job.
