@@ChrisArlesMusic Sounds great. Question. For your intro., you flow really nice around the high fret area. I know my scales inside out incluing Major and Minor Penta (5 notes in 5 shapes) and the Major Scale (1st position only Do Re Mi..., 7 notes...then I jump down to Maj. Penta.) I know some modes too however, I tend to sound like I am playing a scale. I have a few riffs here and there, but the same ones. I was just curious how you approach your playing. Are you thinking in terms of patterns- or using your ear, or using memorized licks and riffs? I don't think I have a good musical ear. I can play blues- even SRV Texas Flood very fast and not miss a note- and it might sound decent even, but other times, I sound like I am playing the same shapes and riffs over and over- just in different keys, etc. Sorry for the long story, but I like how you play so I was just hoping to hear what your secret is...if you are ok sharing. Thanks!

@@MOAB-UT hi, I would be pleased to share my secret if had one 😉 What I can say is that I’ve worked a lot in the past, I’m a player for about 45 years now so at one time you just forget everything you’ve learned and play … The best way to learn is to play with others, to share sensations, to enjoy the energy Jam’in etc … my first advice would be to this. I’ll go deeper in your question and will be back with more infos soon, I promise. Best 😉

@@ChrisArlesMusic Cool. thanks. I have been jamming to backing tracks- trying to copy SRV in Texas Flood and Albert Collins Blues. If I can get the main riffs down, I can improvise the rest in key. Played with a group last year- definitely improved and learned some songs I never would have on my own.

@@MOAB-UT my second advice is to pay maximum attention to rhythm and time ! phrasing with perfect time is the secret to the flow !!! Same notes, same phrases, different time and the music is gone ... Work with metronome set in 12/8 [ 1.2.3 ] [ 1.2.3 ] [ 1.2.3 ] [ 1.2.3 ] at 100bpm, each time is divided by 3 = triplets. Then alternate triplets and sixteenth [ 1.2.3.4 ] [ 1.2.3.4 ] [ 1.2.3.4 ] [ 1.2.3.4 ] !!! If you search how to groove, this is a very good exercice, stay focus of the Hi Hat and the SNARE, that's where you 'll have all the ghosts notes, secret to a good groove. Hope the will help ;)

Thanks for your kind words ! There is always tons of harmony options on every melody, depending on the target and/or the wishes of the producer, accordingly or not, with the artist's vision. When I work for an artist, my main focus is to support his/her personal vision first. That's what I've tried to do on "Glow". Sometimes I prefer others directions, here I had to respect Lianne's writing, playing, and singing with the right amount of tonal arrangements and not more. Best, Chris.
