Very useful presentation for a new Canadian airspace user like me. I am an Airline Pilot from Middle East, just moved to Canada & trying to Convert my license to Canadian ATPL.I have found Canadian Approach Ban rules are quite interesting than those of other part of the world. I will appreciate, if you can advice me were I can find more information about Canadian airspace. Thank you.

Fly-aways fascinate me. Everybody known they happen, but nobody ever really knows why they happen exactly. Probably because there could be various explanations, and also because the defective craft is rarely recovered. Here is my humble opinion on the subject... I keep hearing people saying a fly away can be caused be the control signal being hijacked by interference, but I don't find this plausible... At least when a modern remote control is involved. The way I understand it, modern transmitters work like wi-fi, sending digital signal in packets, with a digital fingerprint. So even if something else is talking on the same frequency, it is able to distinguish between interference and the desired packet. It's been proven that it's possible to intentionally hijack a drone, but I'm talking about accidental hijacking. What CAN happen, is interference that causes a loss of signal reception, and then if the receiver on the craft is cheap or badly configured, it could keep sending a movement value to the fight controller, usually the last value received. Other possible explanations could be: - GPS defect that suddenly makes the flight controller believe it's someplace other than where it is. - Pilot error: leaving the craft in Attitude Mode in strong winds when you believe it's in GPS mode. - Pilot error: getting disoriented, confusing front and back, and moving the craft away when trying to move it closer. - Defect in the flight controller: computers crash sometimes - Defect in the remote: a stick is defective, it's zero moves away from the middle and it starts sending a movement value when it's centered.
