How did you handle getting the glass out? Did you break it and replace it?

I made a new top for my workmate 30 years ago. Still on the job. Hint: be sure of where your saw blade is going.

So apparently a $42 dollar 18 in. Swaging Tool from Home Depot to crimp ferrules correctly is way too much money . . . and would rather risk injury to crimp your mickey mouse method . . . good luck with that, sir - - - - Un-fuckin-believable - - - - Stay OFF the Internet

Really getting tired of this same comment. Pay attention to the video. IT IS 1/4". swaging tool for 1/4" is is $180 - if you can find one- certainly not at H.D. You're unbelievable, and rude. Please refrain from commenting on videos and acting like a know-it-all.

Hahaha! At this point it’ll be cheaper just to go to Harbor freight and get the tool for 10 bucks. Impressed with your ingenuity though

Overall it’s a decent table. If you’re not using it for big heavy projects. Its gets unstable when using my jigsaw and handsaw. Table starts to shake and lifts off the ground. Maybe I’m doing something wrong? Also the folding mechanic works great kzbin.infoUgkxyFZUPFEey-PuqsPMxqaykBhgA1LWxFHh when setting up, but I can’t get the table to fold down. It gets stuck 3/4ths on the way down.

At timeline 8:59....on the right side, underneath your picture with a mask....seems it's coming apart......why not simply put it on a base with 4 lockable caster-wheels underneath?....seems that would be a lot less work to build.

Thanks for sharing. That’s a really good old trick I learned as a warehouse worker. I’m 65 now and still use it at home centers on banded lumber and packaging. 👍

Thanks for this. I have an off-brand bench that's been needing this for years, and you've given me a good road map. Plus, I found it kind of humorous that you used the old and busted top to work on the new one.😁

Yes, I do this! Just watched your workmate videos and noticed you are aware of the finer points of using your tools and how to get them to do what needs to be done. I appreciate that. I see a lot of other videos from people who either neglect small but important details and end up with subpar results, or people who get decent results but feel a need to use expensive, flashy tools when it's not necessary. I am in your camp.

Why go to all that trouble and not finish the frame, mitres and joins all have gaps in them, you never fix anything of value with masking tape and never on four sides, plus you need to seal the back.

Not like this. It was an experiment. I got a couple good years out of it, but it finally broke again, at the point of the repair. I'm going to make a new handle with the grain in the right orientation. Thanks for the nice comment anyway.
