I already have a career in Opera Performance and I found the field of Mocap pretty late in my career. But I'm really interested in preparing myself for it, since I have a vast dance background and theater acting experience. Is it unusual to find singers or other artists in the mocap field?
@GemmaWallaceActing9 күн бұрын
@@HighPear100 oh that’s so awesome! Nope! Never too late to get into it and I honestly wouldn’t doubt your current skills could help give you a different edge in the field. But having a dance background will definitely help of what I’ve seen of people I know. Not unusual to be honest as a lot of us are theatre kids 😜 If there’s anything else I can help with just let me know!

I recently went to a job fair, where I wanted to talk to this actor who was there (Michael Strickland) Couldn't find Michael at first, but I did see another group that had a TV showing animations for video games, so I went over there and asked what they do, but mainly asked if they do mo-cap work. Where the lady there said they do - but they're a small group, sort story to that is I basically said how passionate I am on mo-cap and she gave me a card to contact someone to see if I can help around the studio. Though talking to Michael was very nice, I got straight to the point on wanting to become an actor for motion/performance capture, where we talked for 45 minutes on acting and the industry and his acting classes he teaches. (The only reason I did go to the job fair though was because of this video, plus the genuine happiness I felt talking to people who had interest in the things I wanted to learn, plus I didn't show up unprepared.)

Hello! Next year I’m wanting to take mocap / performance capture classes. My question is for (Let’s say I do make it into mocap / performance capture.) Do I have to live close to the city where a mocap / performance capture studio is? I live around an area that will be pretty far for me when I take these classes, and I don’t think there’s a mocap / performance capture studio near me.

@@just_kelly8838 hey! So I feel this is a similar comparison like with acting for film or do you need to be in london for acting. I feel that it can help, but they can also cover your travel if you land the role or you would take the hit of travel coming out of your payment. A lot of my roles have been in London and I currently live in Leeds - you just have to be happy to travel. I don’t think you have to - but of course it could help or just be prepared to travel! @GemmaWallaceActing3 ай бұрын
@@christianvillagomez7569 ooo that’s a tricky one. In my opinion motion capture is a mixture of theatre and screen acting depending what you’re shooting. But either way I believe will benefit! Maybe look at the course curriculums prior to see if any of the modules cover Mocap in any form. Hope that helps a bit!
@christianvillagomez75693 ай бұрын
@GemmaWallaceActing what I'm shooting with mocap acting is this kzbin.info/www/bejne/bJjWnI2af52lfJosi=Ic_WmzGMK5C_P0Zi Also, mocap acting doesn't necessarily require some college degree, right? What are the requirements needed or what is best for this work field, especially with what is shown in this video I send, and how can I do does requirements? What courses are up-to-date and their locations(my location is in the northern parts of Texas and if there's any close here, I would like to know, but if there's isn't, I would still like to know where are they mostly located). I'm sorry if I'm asking too many questions, I'm just soo into this field since it's a field where I can keep up doing MA. Even today, it is hard to get info for mocap acting, and hardly anyone knows about it, my high school and college advisors didn't even know this existed.
@GemmaWallaceActing3 ай бұрын
@@christianvillagomez7569 so that is a lot more combat / action. Involved. There are more courses these days that include stage combat - that would definitely help you get into Mocap down the line to have other skills alongside acting 😁

Considering Spotlight's move towards the darkside over the past 12 months (crazily increasing prices, exploitative practices, lowering standards etc.), and Equity's new stance against them, do you still recommend people actually need to be on Spotlight? Has being a member helped you get a lot of work since you joined? I used to be a member, but just can't support their practices now.
@GemmaWallaceActing8 ай бұрын
To be honest I’m still kinda torn with this exact point. It is crazy prices and personally life never landed a role on the platform. But then again I have had self tapes more now - but do think that’s down having a good agent who personalises my submissions. Sorry to say but I’m not decided yet…. But do agree the tiered paying things was off

Thanks for the reply! I read from many actors across social media, "I have never got a job from Spotlight, but still feel I have to be on there." I would like to say that I hope the industry is moving towards change, but I always seem to get roasted on Facebook by actors when I suggest they stop paying the industry Mob (Spotlight), as if they were all Stockholm Syndrome sufferers. 🤣 But it is what it is. I did a search yesterday for a few hours, and identified several agencies, both large and boutique, that don't require Spotlight for representation. I'll definitely be going in that direction once I'm ready to seek representation in the UK. Anyhow, best of luck with you continuing journey. Hey! Just wanted to say that this is such a beautiful build but you have 2 major flaw. First is the GPU, it is plugged in on the very bottom PCIE slot. i would suggest you put it on the top PCIE slot, right under the cpu cooler, to get every ounce of performance you can! ATM its not performing at it should and being under utilized. Secondly is the CPU cooler fan. i noticed that the cpu fan is facing the back case fan and they are working against each other! i suggest you put the cooler fan in front of the cooler so it will pull in air, through the radiator, and blow air from the back and be sucked out by the rear case fan cuz right now the back case fan is pulling air out while the cpu fan is trying to pull air in!

Hi Gemma I’m a little confused… so Spotlight accepts IMDB credits for the four credits, but not if it is a student, short that is not on the BAFTA list, music video etc. ? Or if these productions provide an IMDB credit will this suffice, no matter what type of production it is? Thank you so much for the video!

So I believe it’s changed a little since my video. You need: - Least one featured role from an equity or equivalent contract or 2 contracted professional performance credits. - least 1 year professional training or specific part time one - or member from Spotlight; 3rd party recommendation from a professional member of society’s / organisations etc. But go to here: www.spotlight.com/help-and-faqs/getting-started-as-a-spotlight-member-faqs/ Also check out Spotlight for more info as things have defo slightly changed since I applied / done this video. Hope this helps a bit more!! I found it all bit confusing too / hoped for the best when applying aha! In a nutshell, I believe it’s more now of the professional credit of something you’re featured in and can prove this
