Me too, I like it. At first I thought "this is mid" but then when the characters developed I was into it. Got book 2 and 3 but will wait for the rest until we cross that bridge.

I'm so glad you enjoyed T. Kingfisher! She's one of my favorite authors. I would highly recommend the Seventh Bride by her.

I completely agree about Abby Jimenez. She’s a great writer and her books work so well for me. I’m really picky about romantasy. One that surprised me with how much I enjoyed it was Radiance by Grace Draven. It is smart and has better world-building than most romantasy I’ve tried.

The card magic system sounds like that of Sakura: Card Captor: also 9:40 I think you might like the dark contemporary fantasy comic series "Locke and Key". Hear me out. I do not know if you like like comics but a selling point of this is Stephen King's son wrote it. "The Locke family moves in to the family estate and soon discover mysterious keys that open more than doors. The real danger though are the those that want the keys."

Oh thank you so much! Locke and Key has been on my radar but I just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Just found your channel and I love it! 😊Have you read the hogfather by terry pratchett? It follows the death character and does the humour element really well. I started off reading it (out of all terry ratchet books , knowing nothing) so you could read it as a stand alone. I found it a lot better than mort or the witches books. The audiobook is also done really well , deaths voice is perfect! Looking forward to seeing more book recs, I think we have similar book tastes!

I haven't read that one yet, but I'll have to check it out! I want to like discworld so much. I do think I'll have to find the audiobooks somewhere. I listened to Guards! Guards! on audio and liked that experience a lot more. I think Prachett's humor translates well to audio.

Jim Dale’s diction and intonation just always felt off to me. And he mispronounces Hermione’s name. I’m a Stephen Fry man through and through.

I'm from Germany. As a kid I read the books in German but later bought the original Version (UK). Never thought of hearing the American audio book. I absolutley adore Stephen Fry's performance. Subtle, nuanced and his voice is soothing. It feels like your dad reads to you. His Hagrid sounds pretty much like Robbie Coltrane in the movies. Fun Fact: Stephen Fry had problems with the phrase "Harry pocketed it" in the first book. He called JK and asked for permission to change it to "Harry put it in his Pocket". Her response: "No" ! And to mess with him she reused the phrase in Book 2,4,5 and 6, sometimes even multiple times 🤣🤣🤣 That's Proof: Fry is the ultimate narrator, writers approved 😜

I also got out of the book due to the character development…think it could have been stronger if Bennett used different language for the feelings of the characters. I got tired of “sad, angry, horrible & terrible”. The world and plot was 5/5 and character, dialogue was like 2/5.
@murraymint8599 Жыл бұрын
Stephen fry is like a Chamaeleon he can change himself into any character he wants it’s amazing 🤩 also I have never heard the echo in Stephen fry’s version
